OP, I had the exact same concerns about sharpening my own knives. I have great hand eye coordination and can definitely be very delicate with my hands, but I know I'm still going to struggle to hold the proper angle with a flat stone line like that. Takes a lot of practice to get good and consistent at that sharpening motion.

Solution: I bought a Spyderco Triangle Sharpmaker from Amazon. What this style of product does is handle the angle work for you by design, offers a 30 degree and 40 degree edge. You simply take the triangular stones and slide them into the base so that they make a "v" shape, and then you sharpen the blade by keeping it verticle and dragging it towards yourself across the stones, alternating between sides stroke by stroke.

I really can't recommend this product enough. Although, to anyone who is interested, I found that I got the best results when I purchased an additional set of triangle stones that are the "ultra fine" grit. All told I think I spent $70 and now I don't have to focus on maintaining the exact angle with a whetstone.

You want a VHF/UHF designed antenna. WTVD/ABC is on VHF-Hi. Most leaf/flat style antennas aren't designed for VHF. Use TV Fool to determine your optimal direction. The optimal location indoors will be in a window. Post you TV Fool report to /r/OTA if you have further questions.

VHF/UHF designed antennas:

  • rabbit ears + loop (RCA ANT111F or amplified RCA310F)
  • Winegard FlatWave (Home Depot, amplified version available online)
  • Winegard FreeVision (Home Depot)
  • Winegard HD-1080/Xtreme Signal HD1080x
  • Channel Master STEALTHtenna
  • RCA ANT751
  • Winegard HD7000R
  • 1byone OUS00-0557
  • GE Pro Outdoor Yagi Antenna (Walmart)
  • Antennas Direct Element
  • Winegard HD7694P
  • Winegard HD7698P
  • Distribution amplifier
  • Optional preamp: Winegard LNA-100 (indoor), LNA-200, or RCATVPRAMP1R (outdoor)

Be careful using an amplified antenna when you have strong signals (>50NM dB) or using an outdoor antenna. An amplified signal could overload your TV's tuner and cause reception issues. Unfortunately trial and error may be required at some locations.

See this post for more information on connecting an antenna using existing unused coax cables and sharing a single indoor/outdoor/attic antenna between multiple TVs/DVRs. The same applies to satellite coax cable runs or sharing an antenna in another room. Only difference is where you're mounting/connecting your antenna. This is something you can do yourself if the cables are within easy reach, but you can also hire a satellite installer who is willing to install antennas.

I frequently download large Linux ISOs, so the 300Mbps makes it nice. I was just considering price in those modems - why buy an Arris 6121 for $84 when you can get an SMC D3CM1604 for $15 cheaper? You may want to upgrade your speed one day and would have to buy a whole new modem if you have a 6121.

Go with Pursonic. It's $20-$35, and comes with 12 toothbrush heads, so you're not stuck buying $20 brush head every 6 months. I wish every one of my patients used electric.

Name brand Sonicare also works if money is no object.

I've got 35c studded tires - they worked OK for me. I didn't fall, although it felt kind of sketchy at times.

Big thing is traffic. Very few cars were out and about. When I did get near one I just pulled over, since I don't trust drivers on this stuff. That car at the light is the only one I saw moving on the road for like 5 minutes.

I saw a guy out there with a fat bike, he was killing it. But I can't see buying a fat bike to ride in the like 2 days a year we get snow.

Amazon can probably get some to you in a couple days:

I have the Black Box dashcam that I got off Amazon. Got a 32gig microUSB for it and I plug it into the cig lighter (also plugs into USB). It turns on/off with ignition, but you could probably hardwire it into your map lights or right to the battery if you wanted.

Yup, I second that for roaches. I haven't used it personally but I've heard a lot of folks talk about it. After using the gel bait, I'd also suggest this. Grab a one gallon sprayer from Lowe's or Home Depot and you're set. I use the one ounce per gallon of water mixture and spray the outside of my house every couple of months. Shout out to /u/bagodees for suggesting both in a similar thread.

I have one of the mouse pad antennas with 50 mile range, it is directional still so you have to have it set right in your house, I get 38 channels right now, when you include the sub-stations, only beef is I don't get abc11 at all, even though I can pick up some stations from Greensboro. It works for CBS, NBC, Fox for football, and gets the CW for the other shows I watch, so I'm usually covered.

Sorry for the extremely late response, but this is what I use: http://amzn.com/B00JJ3L84G

All I have is the TG1672 That was provided when TWC installed. Should I also get a router?

Everything had been going well until last week or so. It is bizarre.

Title | How to use the Spyderco Sharpmaker - easy knife sharpening for beginners
Description | The Spyderco Tri-Angle Sharpmaker can be found for about $50-60 and offers a simple, convenient way to sharpen an edge at either 30 or 40 degree angle. It uses ceramic rods that are arranged in a V-shape position so that all you need to do is to keep the edge pointed down. A simply whetstone is of course a cheaper alternative for knife sharpening but it requires a lot of practice to get the angle right consistently. Yes, German or American roaches can very easily infest a space. Large palmetto bugs are common, but they prefer the outdoors and aren't gonna hang around and reproduce.

Fortunately, roaches are easy to deal with if you've got the right goo. It waits about 24-48 hours to actually kill the roaches and so they get some on them and spread it to all the other roaches. No roaches after a week max. I've never had to apply it a second time.

Check this stuff out.

Sunbeam blender + ice cubes = crushed ice

EDIT: I don't understand the downvote. You don't want to buy crushed ice, as it melts so much faster. It is actually cheaper to buy bags of ice cubes, and crush them in a quality blender. If you want a huge quantity of crushed ice, I would get one of these:

I have a new in the box All American double capacity 930 pressure canner and Eastman Outdoor Cooking set , also new in the box, (ie. Outdoor LP burner to fire the oversized pressure canner on, plus fish/turkey cooker pots) + (3) cases of (12) new quart jars, (1) case (12) pint jars, lids, blocks of wax, book Complete Book of Home Preserving, possibly other related books and a box of previously used canning jars. If needed, I could throw in a used LP replacement tank for an extra $25. I'm thinking $300 for everything less LP tank or $325 for everything plus LP tank delivered in Orange or Durham counties. PM me email address, and I'll attempt to send photos.
