Hello! I hope this does not go against any rule but I had a revision to my RnY on January 30th 2018. Eight years ago I lost SO much hair the first time around. This time I am taking Biotin. I'm not a medical professional but it does work if you take it on a regular basis. I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004H7GB9G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1

Hope that helps!

Cheers!

EDIT: I just saw that this is the better deal: https://www.amazon.com/Natrol-Biotin-Maximum-Strength-Tablets/dp/B0185PXU3K/ref=sr_1_4_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519830762&sr=8-4&keywords=Natrol%2BBiotin%2BMaximum%2BStrength%2BTablets%2C%2B10%2C000mcg&th=1

I actually tried a Fa!rlife one today that was pretty kick ass. 26g of protein, so less than premier, and also more calories, but it tasted really good.

My doc mandates calcium citrate, not carbonate, so Viactiv are out. I take the Citracal gummies. They are good! 6 per day equals 1500mg. Sometimes I see them in stores but mostly get them on Amazon. https://smile.amazon.com/Citracal-Calcium-Supplement-Gummies-70/dp/B00JA4TOH2/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492626683&sr=8-1&keywords=citracal+gummies

My doctor recommended the Celebrate Iron + C chewable tablets. It's the Ferrous Fumerate since it's supposed to be gentler on your stomach than the sulfate.

A word of advice, taking iron tablets can cause constipation, so be wary of that.

I should really work in more cheese especially as snacks. Thanks! I have no idea what protein powders are better than others. I've heard of that optimum gold standard stuff though. We use this Isopure one:

I still am not clear on the fat content of greek yogurt. I've been trying to find the ones with the least amount of sugar though. I don't mind a yogurt that isn't too sweet. I've gotten this "triple zero" one by dannon.

I have this book which has lots of good liquid recipes, using cocoa, peanut butter powder, pumpkin purée, decaf iced coffee, etc: https://www.amazon.com/Fresh-Start-Bariatric-Cookbook-Weight-Loss/dp/1623157730.

I have read there are goat milk protein powders out there. Also check out the hemp protein powders https://www.vitacost.com/blog/sports-and-fitness/sports-nutrition/5-alternatives-to-whey-protein.html I haven't tried them myself but maybe something worth checking out. Also are you adding anything to your shakes or just adding water? How about juicing veggies and fruits together and then adding collagen powder to it? At the deep dish place order the children's spaghetti and meatballs and just eat the meatballs. Honestly one meatball may be enough food maybe one and a half.

Or try doing your grilled chicken breast order it sounds fine.

There is a medical card you can get that explains your surgery and allows you to eat off the children's menu.

My advice: Optisource multivitamin for post bariatric surgery patients and Bariatric Advantage Calcium chewy bites. Optisource does not taste the best, but you just take 2 tabs twice a day. In the middle of the day (2 hours from the others), you take one 500mg calcium. That regimen contains everything my program requires. There is iron, therefore I would recommend taking your levothyroxine on an empty stomach and 2 hours before the Optisource.

I bought this set of two for me and my mom after WLS. It’s got marking on the side as well to track intake.

I'm a huge fan of the Hydroflask.

This thing will actually keep water ice cold (as in the cubes don't melt) for like 24 hours or so. The ice will melt a little of course, but I've never had a water bottle have ice last this long. I don't know about the straw after the WLS thing as I'm only starting to look in to it, but you can also buy a cap for it that you just unscrew and you can sip.

I got this one works fine but I wound up not needing it. My Dr. let me know that my non-capsule pills were small enough to just swallow whole.

For my capsules, I just broke them open into a small spoon of unsweetened apple sauce and chased with a sip of water until I was good to swallow them whole again.

That's the one I got. Judging from reviews and pictures everyone can pull this one off!

I buy this and make a big jug of it every few days. My husband and I both drink it a ton.

I take these (bypass 18 months ago):

  1. One a Day's Womens - I'm a woman so if you're a guy you should probably get the men's version
  2. Bariatric Advantage Dry Vitamin D
  3. Nature's Way B-50 Complex
  4. Natrol Maximum Strength Biotin
  5. Kirkland's Calcium Citrate

Then, I'm not currently on either of these, but for a while I was taking:

  6. NOW Vitamins B-1 Thiamine
  7. Country Life Dry Vitamin A

When taking all of these vitamins daily as recommended my numbers have all come back fine. Personally, I HATE the B- Complex because it smells funny, and I've tried a few brands and discovered that its just the way the B-50 complex smells and I just deal. Have one of those lame pill/vitamin containers that you can fill for a whole month, and I keep the B-50 in a separate container because otherwise ALL of the vitamins smell and its a more horrible process.
