Switch blades. You can get sampler packs from a variety of online stores. Because one of the advantages of DE shaving is cheapness of the blades, this shouldn't be a problem. If you have particularly thick facial hairs, not density of the hair, but actually thick individual hairs, you'll potentially need a very sharp blade to do the job. I have very thick hair and I use these bad boys: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CE3518/ref=oh_details_o07_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I’ve always used the Israeli Crystal / “SUPER +” blades as a milder shaving blade:

I use those pretty regularly; usually a mix of Feather blades, Personna “Blues” and the Israeli Crystals.
Shark blades make me feel like I'm using an actual shark to shave my face.
In a year of using a DE razor, I have found that my favorite blades are http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CE3518/ref=wms_ohs_product
Crystal Super Platinums. I have really sensitive skin, and have had great results from these. My second choice is the Astra Superior Platinum.
Safety razor works best for me too. I've tried it all. Trimmer just makes it short and scratchy, doesn't get you shaved. I use this one with these blades. Keep one hand dry to pull the skin tight, always use a sharp blade.

Not OP, but I use Israeli Crystals. About $15 shipped for a pack of 100 and work better for me than even the crazy expensive Feathers.
But if you're just trying to get into it, I'd get a sampler pack from a safety razor site and try a bunch of different ones til you find what you like.
Also make sure you get a decent brush (badger or a good synthetic) and good shaving cream. That's just as important as the blade and razor. I love Taylor's of Old Bond Street and it runs about $15 a tub.
If you search Amazon for "double edge safety razor blade variety pack" you will get quite a few options. This is what I did six years ago. 3/4 of the way through the pack I realized I had a winner Crystal "SUPER +" Stainless Steel Platinum Coated Double Edge Safety Razor Blades A.K.A Israeli Personnas.
Being able to try many different blades was great. I'm not second guessing - I know what I like.
So if these are the stainless platinum ones, and you linked the stainless only ones below, do you have a link for the platinum ones?
They are so sharp...it's kind of unbelievable.
I like these
They are often referred to as "Israeli Personnas" on forums/boards...I find that they work really well on my skin and aren't too sharp but also last a long time. Your results may vary.....but they do come in this sample pack which is a good idea!

These are supposedly Israeli-made by Personna, though they're called Crystals.
Personna

Those blades are Crystal Super +
One of my first blades I ever bought and they are pretty damn good IMHO.
yup sold as crystals, https://www.amazon.com/Crystal-Stainless-Platinum-Israeli-Personnas/dp/B002CE3518
"Rebranded." One reviewer speculated they're manufactured for foreign markets and are, therefore, a lower quality . He said they also have a different weight than real Personna Reds (aka Israel made).

These are currently my go to blades.
I get basically zero irritation on my scalp when I use these, although I don’t get quite as many uses out of them as I would other blades. You can definitely tell when it’s time to change the blade, as it starts to tug really badly.
Feather blades are very sharp and you’ll get a lot of uses out of them, but that sharpness could also mean cuts and irritation if your technique isn’t solid yet.
I switched from Merkur to Personna Super+ Platinum from Israel (known as Personna ‘blues’). They’re marketed as ‘Crystal’ in the US. Just make sure the ones you try are made in Israel. They aren’t as sharp as Feather (which are too sharp for me), but definitely comparable to the Merkur blades. I can get a year’s worth on Amazon for ~$25. As always, YMMV.
