> For fucks sake, I was saying that your counter argument makes no sense, not that we should use 1/4" jacks. (Which we do, BTW, on literally every Audio Equipment other than Consumer Tech.)

I understand that, but you've provided no valid rationale for why my argument makes no sense.

You didn't say that we should be using 1/4" jacks, but the logic you used to suggest using 3.5mm over USB-C can be applied to support the idea that 1/4" jack should be used over 3.5mm jack. For something to be a valid counter-point, it must be logically consistent.

> (Which we do, BTW, on literally every Audio Equipment other than Consumer Tech.)

I understand that, I do some audio mixing myself. My audio equipment uses a blend of 1/4" jack, 3.5mm jack, XLR, USB, 5-pin, etc. I imagine if you actually work with audio equipment, you're no stranger to adapters. I have about 30 adapters sitting in a drawer for 3.5mm to 1/4", USB to XLR, etc.

> The USB-C is NOT smaller, is NOT all-orientation, and I can not charge while listening to music.

USB-C IS smaller... significantly so... It CAN be all-orientation, (though I will admit that's rare, so that is the ONE advantage to 3.5mm jack), and you certainly CAN charge while listening to music using something like this, a device with two USB-C ports, or a device with wireless charging.

USB-C can do everything 3.5mm jack can do (except allow you to spin your phone around on the cable like a fucking lasso). Plus, USB-C has the added benefit of allowing you to do much more.

Although, I do agree that having just one USB-C port is a slight weakness. I would love a phone with 2 USB-C ports. Though I can't imagine I would ever find myself actually using it.

> can't charge while using your headphones though.

I keep seeing this complaint. Get a dongle that splits charge and 3.5mm. This is not a valid complaint.

Bitch about having to use a dongle. That's a valid complaint. Not charging and listening at the same time is bullshit. You definitely can.

E: People can't fucking read, apparently. Bolding for emphasis. Your problem is NEEDING A DONGLE. Your problem is n't "oh I can't charge and listen." Bitch about the need for a dongle.
