Also there's a graphic novel version which I own but haven't read. I've read the real thing though. Graphic novel- http://www.amazon.com/Peoples-History-American-Empire-Project/dp/0805087443/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1247589405&sr=8-4

or enjoy the handy cartoon version. I have both, with HZ's signature on the title pages.

Or A People's History of American Empire if you are interested in history, but not reading so much. Also, graphics.

Well actually no, you obviously have no idea what people like George H.W. bush did to the world. It's not just him, it's the entire line of US presidents except for maybe Franklin Roosevelt (even he did some bad shit).

Do me a favor and go to your local library to borrow this book - http://www.amazon.com/A-Peoples-History-American-Empire/dp/0805087443 it is only the first of what you can learn from the sufferings of what the US government caused the world.

Please don't label people as elitist, when you yourself don't know shit. This "mentality" that caused the countless wars and genocides is nonexistent, you are classifying 2 different things in one area for the purpose of ad hominem argument. War is for the gain of the state, genocides is no gain at all except for the egos of those in power.

The story of Pinoche and Chile is just one of many very important examples in history where the elites have run this EXACT same operation. Howard Zinn is a great historian at divulging many of these stories. They even made one into a graphic novel.

Also excellent first-hand account of this tactic is John Perkins' Confessions of an Economic Hitman

https://www.amazon.com/Confessions-Economic-Hit-John-Perkins/dp/0452287081

These 2 alone will get you pointed in the right direction for learning the true history of US/western elites/corporatocracy impirialism. You will also see the correlation between these and what they are trying to pull here and now in the US.

Disregarding the edit: Zinn's People's History is a great read. There's also this gem that he wrote. I read both in a college course a few years ago. It's definitely a different view on American history.
TL;DR dude's high, but Zinn's books will make you think.

>es, it would require a federal level of agreement to make that happen.

Feds do not have to agree. Once the correct number of states sign on it is automatic.

>Governors of states can not join a group and just nullify federal laws.

Never intended my response to mean this as I explain last time.

>You must not have read US history, or you would know that the Civil War relates directly to what you're trying say doesn't exist.

I am a U.S. History teacher and the Civil War has nothing to do with nullification or states voting for a convention. It had to do with whether the states had the right to secede from the Union and that's the only thing it was about.

>Oh, I didn't realize your own personal definition of what empire is, is what dictates every intellectual conversation. You think empire is an insult, so it must be!

Have you never watched the new or read a news paper? It is not my defition it is the accepted definition of those who attack the U.S.

So not my definition. It is the one most used in the media and world today when insulting America.

>You'll give me a pass?! I'm so lucky!

Not anymore, You have exposed yourself for what you really are.

>That has nothing to do with the conversation. Why don't you go ahead and show me the similarities between the Mongolian and the British Empires while you're at it.

This shows that you did not read the article and have no idea what you are talking abuot. The mongoalian empire and the british empire were both held up of the two examples of the definitions of empire you are talking about. So again you expose yourself.

>Even though I showed you a wikipedia link describing empire as exactly as what I said it was. Who cares about actual facts though, right?

The same Wikipedia article that shows that the U.S. is not an empire and discusses that most do not define it as so. So facts are facts.

>Maybe you shouldn't have rushed to the conclusion that it was an insult. It doesn't say much about your intellectual capacity.

I have taken back trying to be nice to you. In this reply you have shown ignorance to your own definitions, that you have not completely read your own article or the articles I have posted and are taking the minority view of if the U.S. is an empire or not. You have also shown ignorance of the Civil War, the U.S. Constitution and I now am back to the belief that you did indeed mean this as an insult.

Good day. I have learned to use the ignore function on Reddit Dashboard liberally for jerks like you.
