Very bad SSDs overall. Absolutely don't run them in RAID on a single computer. Unless you really desperately need 4 small SSDs for four separate computers you're better off buying a 512GB SSD like this: http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E500B-AM/dp/B00OBRE5UE/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1452178769&sr=1-1&keywords=512gb+ssd

Honestly though if you really want four small low end SSDs just buy this: http://www.amazon.com/ADATA-USA-Premier-SP550-ASP550SS3-120GM-C/dp/B013J7PP96/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1452178798&sr=1-6&keywords=120gb+ssd

or this: http://www.amazon.com/Patriot-Torch-120GB-height-Solid/dp/B00OTY083M/ref=sr_1_12?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1452178798&sr=1-12&keywords=120gb+ssd

Neither are spectacular but they're better than the Kingston V300 for sure.

This is every expensive for a 120GB drive anyways.

Alternatives:

If you're going to swap your memory out for 2x8 in the future, then just grab a single 8GB stick right now. The difference between RAM running in dual channel and single channel is marginal in real world applications.

Much better alternative to the Kingston V300.

The build you made looks really good there's just a few things I would do.

  • Don't waste $60 on an optical drive

  • Buy a cheaper SSD

u/Mancakee · 2 pointsr/buildapc

You can pick up even a 120gb SSD for ~$40 and install your OS, WoW, and D3 on it. Then later down the road buy a larger one for other games.

For me:

-Windows10 - 17gb

-Legion - 42gb

-D3 - 16gb

That only totals out to 75gb's which leaves plenty more room for patches, expansions, and whatnot. For $40, or even less, it is way worth it.

I didn't shop around to much but this is a good budget ssd for $39.99

I have two storage boxes, this particular one holds the OS partitions of my VMs. I have dedup enabled since they contain a lot of the same information. I have a separate box for bulk storage.
Config of this box:
CentOS 7
SuperMicro MBD-X9SCL-F-B with 32GB ECC RAM and i3 CPU
2x SuperMicro AOC-SAS2LP-MV8 HBA
16x WD RED 1TB Model WD10JFCX in 8 Mirrored VDEVs in a single Zpool (~7TB)
2x ADATA Premier SP550 120GB Mirrored ZIL cache
1x ADATA Premier SP550 240GB Cache
1x MNPA19-XTR 10Gb NIC
Corsair RM750 PSU

Why don't you just pay the extra £4 to buy a known brand?

u/WHOISTIRED · 2 pointsr/buildapc
First off, you only need 1 liquid cooler, I'll explain in a little bit.

For your Mobo/CPU option you have an H170 which isn't capable of overclocking so look at a Z170.

You're overpaying for the DDR4 only for standard memory speed. Also the same thing with the M.2 SSD you CAN pay for that much but it's really not worth it.

For your PSU I'm still uncertain of specific quality/brands not my area of expertise yet.

Back on the topic of the GPU cooler, if you REALLY want it you're better off just getting the 1070 Seahawk. you're already paying what an extra $110 for the transition into that while you can just pay an extra 60$~ more for the aftermarket GPU. In total you're getting 50$~ back.

I changed the M.2 to just a regular SSD and added a 1TD HDD.(Because everyone needs extra space. I recently got a new computer and I'm 1/2 through both my 120GB and 480GB SSD) That SSD I put is currently different than mine, but I didn't want to put mine on there and get yelled at for being a terrible person :( If you're curious I went with these 1 2 I got my 480 on sale for 90$ so yea.

I got rid of those 2 coolers and switched it out for the Seahawk.(Please don't get reference cards they're awful.) It currently is not instock right now and wont be for a bit(probably until the 1060 comes out.) so wait a couple weeks or so and you should get w/e 1070 card you want and it might drop down in price as well.

I changed your MOBO as well for OC capabilities as clearly you are getting a liquid cooler so duh.
Also I changed your RAM too because you can get a better set for that amount of price. I was going to put 3000Mhz of ram, but apparently people are buying a lot of them and raising up the price.

That's just my opinion though especially you having a Mini ITX build so you really don't want to cramp up your case too much, and I'm not exactly sure about Liquid cooling with that case because the specs or w/e are unknown for the depth, but I clearly saw in videos and pictures with an AIO being in it.

I didn't touch the Case/PSU/CPU/ so yea.

The CPU is fine as if you're just gaming it will be more than enough to do whatever you want.

Take my suggestions though with a grain a salt because I'm obviously sure that there will be better ones. I hope I did somewhat decently though with these suggestions.

Looks good to me, only thing missing is an SSD, they can be had dirt cheap now and shouldn't be overlooked even in a budget build. Here is a great option with free shipping, another larger option with free shipping.

The 7700K and Kaby Lake friends should be released around the end of this year, you may find yourself having to upgrade sooner than later before the 6700K goes out of stock. I would reconsider putting the money for the 6500 towards the 6700K now unless the budget is super tight, in which case I would go i3 6100 since you are planning on upgrading anyway. 6700K cheapest with free shipping I could find. I believe you also get another $5 off when signing up a new account. Keep in mind the 6700K doesn't come with a cooler, so a 212 EVO would be a solid option.

You could save some money on the case as well, here are some sale options. Make sure what you get is full atx compatible.

It's this ssd good for Windows 10 boot? I also bought a Samsung one but would prefer to use for games. Let me know please.

u/muffinofear · 1 pointr/buildmeapc

I would recommend getting the R9 390 it is a slightly better card for about the same price. Not to mention you are slightly more future proof since the 390 has 8 GB of VRAM vs 970's 4GB (Actually 3.5GB). If you go to Jet.com and buy [this] (https://jet.com/product/GIGABYTE-GV-R939WF2-8GD-Radeon-R9-390-Graphic-Card-1-GHz-Core-8-GB-GDDR5-PCI-Exp/86e9da661a7d4f7f808525318ab63fcc) you can use this code 3DB6CCC484374 which saves you $50 which brings it down to $266. Also, for just $15 more you can get 16GB of ram since [these] (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?sdtid=8450743&SID=439e3518c03d11e5822e4e7c471e16f50000&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&Item=N82E16820231489&cm_sp=) are on sale. I would also consider getting an SSD. For $40 you can get [this] (http://www.amazon.com/ADATA-USA-Premier-SP550-ASP550SS3-120GM-C/dp/B013J7PP96/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1453380668&sr=8-2&keywords=adata+ssd) reliable 120 GB SSD just for the OS, makes the boot up time ridiculously fast.

u/Orangematz · 1 pointr/laptops

Alright, what about this?

u/derpyco · 1 pointr/buildapc

Good looking build. Mobo will lack some features (likely no front panel USB 3.0), but for the price it should be fine.

Just FYI, a solid state drive will improve daily use immeasurably. Totally understand that budgets are firm, but when you have an extra $40 in your pocket, go ahead and grab an A-Data 120GB here.

u/Miethe · 1 pointr/buildapc

Your psu is actually decent, so you got lucky there. Not highly efficient, but its stable and well built.

An ssd such as this is great as a system drive as its dirt cheap and still large enough to hold every system file. I'm only recommending a second smaller ssd because you already have the 256gb, normally a single large ssd is fine (just to clear up for any naysayers that will arrive). When you reinstall or migrate your os to this drive, you can remap the drives so that this one is the c: (for pc) and you can set the install path in steam or wherever to the other drive.

You're correct in that the recommendation for internal is for the benefits of SATA. However, I did not realize your external was 3.0 in which case you will not get much performance boost. Internal is often safer as it's less likely to get knocked over...though I can't really recommend a 10k speed hard drive. 7200 rpm is plenty.

With all said and done, I'd upgrade to using the ssd for game storage and then upgrade to at least 1440p monitor, then you can bother with newer gpus

u/Liquidretro · 1 pointr/buildapc

Splurge for a 120gb SSD for Windows. It's worth it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B013J7PP96/ref=twister_B017H2DL5E?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Go 240gb if you can budget it.

I would be a bit concerned that that GPU is powerful enough to play those games at the settings you want. Make sure it can handle it.

I would pick another power supply. It didn't get great pro reviews. For the money it's not terrible but long term buying a bit better PS will be worth the extra. http://www.hardocp.com/article/2015/02/19/evga_430w_power_supply_review/9 http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&file=print&reid=431

You can get IPS displays for $100 if you watch sales.

u/There-is · 1 pointr/buildapc

a data premier, 120 gig.

this should work fine with your mobo, and the cables should come with the motherboard.

u/universaltool · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

With only 8GB of memory swap file performance will come into play a lot more in gaming and that 5400rpm hard drive will be a significant impact. A 120GB SSD would be a better option at a similar price and bring a signficant improvement to performance at the limitation of how many games you can load onto the system at any given time. However with an SSD, adding and removing games will be faster anyways.

Here is a decent performance 120GB SSD:

u/GuiltyRhapsody · 1 pointr/buildapc

You can get a cheaper 120GB SSD. PNY, OCZ, and Sandisk are also have good budget SSDs in that price range.

A 970 really isn't as good a gard for the money as it used it to be. The RX 480 performs better and is cheaper. Only thing is that it's out of stock. But there's no reason why you shoud go with a 970 over a RX 480.

This cooler will perform better than the hyper evo 212 and is easier to assemble. I think it also looks better, and is only $5 more.

Motherboard is fine if it has a certain featurer you need on it, but you could go for a lower end Z170 for ~$100 and save $50, if there is not specific feature you need from your current one.
