Try Admiral Pomade. It's called a strong hold, but it's more of a medium if you ask me. Also, Try growing out your beard.
I've been using Admiral Pomade recently. Works well and smells like coconut macaroons.
I think that pomade is much cheaper on Amazon that in store. Its a strong hold hence I find it more managable when applying to damp hair and then air drying or blow drying according t your desire of volume.

I use Admiral Pomade. It's seriously good stuff. Great hold, and it smells absolutely incredible. It has this very pleasant coconut peach scent. Whenever I smell it my mind is transported to the beach.
It's a bit more expensive than American Crew but you also get an ounce more than Crew.
This stuff is perfect, the only con I have with it is that the jar looks like it's glass in the pictures but unfortunately it's plastic. :(
