Static can cause significant damage to any electronic equipment - computers, printers, phones, network equipment, etc. I strongly recommend taking immediate action to eliminate sources of static:

Use a humidifier to bring up the level of humidity in your shop. The Lasko 1128 is an excellent and cost-effective choice for large areas. This humidifier has a massive 9-gallon water reservoir and drop-and-go refill canister which is extremely convenient, and has a built-in humidity sensor which allows it to automatically turn itself on and off as needed. You'll probably need to assign someone to make sure that this unit is replenished with water each day. You can avoid water deposits from contaminating the interior by using only distilled water, although tap water will work fine too. More importantly, be sure to use a water treatment product (see link below) to keep any mold or bacteria from forming, and replace the filter once a year.

You might also consider using a good anti-static spray on any carpeted areas to reduce static generated by walking. I've used both solutions with good results in arid static-prone offices. Good luck.
