Reddit mentions of Arcadia Quest: Core Game

Arcadia Quest seems right up your alley (and is on sale on Amazon) as do dungeon crawls such as Descent, Star Wars: Imperial Assault, and the second printing of Gloomhaven which is currently on Kickstarter. Lords of Waterdeep is also an option as it is based on Dungeons and Dragons. It's hard to get deep into the lore in a game since the lore of DnD is the game.

I recommend going the boardgame route. There's plenty of miniatures boardgames out there that get you a decent selection of minis for a reasonable price, plus the option to play another game. I'm more a sci-fi guy, but here are some fantasy options (no particular order):

Dungeons and Dragons boardgame

Generic fantasy: here or here

Steampunk fantasy

Chibi style if you are into that.

Other somewhat cartoony style

I missed this kickstarter but picked it up on amazon for $80. Base game only though. You'll have to shell out close to three times the kickstarter price if you want it all.
