I don't really know what you are asking, but a lot of radios you can adjust the transmit power, and low is often 1W on handhelds like this. Not a great radio, but it does the job. I normally transmit at 4W and can hit a repeater over 15 miles away, but that's with an improved antenna. There is a lot going on there, and I'm not going to pretend to understand it all. I've never really played with how far low goes, but I'd imagine a few miles.
