I actually keep a pocket sized composition notebook and write down any word I don't know that I come across. I take it with me everywhere so if I have a spare few minutes I'll stop and read through all the words and remember their meaning. If I have a longer amount of time and a spare sheet of paper, I'll write ones I still have trouble recalling and a sentence to reinforce it. I think the writing is the most important part to remembering.
