Ha, yeah, I've spent literally years dealing with this! My feet are a 10.5 (which a lot of brands don't even make, they go 10 -> 11), and not actually wider than a usual 7-8 foot (but they make 10-11 sizes SO wide), AND I have a narrow heel too, like yours.

What works for me is:

  • I generally buy only real leather, and soft leather at that, so that I can buy the half-size down (10 for me), and it eventually stretches out to the exact shape of my foot. I have two ancient pairs of Vince Camuto flats that basically an exact mold of my foot now.

  • They're not super-dressy, but for the width issue, my best solution is generally to get pairs that have elastic ruching at the sides (like these), which help keep a narrow foot in. Some styles have ruching specifically around the heel area, which helps.

  • Also, based on your description, I'd like for something with a wide toe box.
