You can hate on Bose as much as you want. I've had $699 soundbars/$399 Sennheisers and composite/copper/optical cables/HDMI/DLP setups.

If you want to say what I have is shit, than so be it.
If you don't have these speakers, and you're just here to shit on anyone that has Bose - thats your pergoative. The 4/5 rating on these is 76%. The rest, is people bringing it down via 1 star because they dont actually have the system. Im rarely going to spend $399 for a system like this, but you know what? I pulled the trigger 4 years ago. Between a $350+ Logitech 5.1 system and so many others, this is my favorite. Not just because it sounds good, but because its minimalistic.

STEREO PC SPEAKER SETUP

Hey guys, I'm looking to 'upgrade' my Bose Companion 5 set, which I'm sure you're all familiar with. It has served me well, but I have the feeling I can get something a lot better for roughly the same price. Ideally, I'd like to circumvent the limitations of my on-motherboard audio output by using a USB DAC and amp, and then a good pair of speakers, but I don't have the slightest bit of expertise on the subject.

Like I said, I'm looking to buy something in roughly the same price category, ideally with 2.1 speakers, and not too big: ideally some that are not bigger than 20x30cm (8"x12"). If necessary, I can stretch it to 20x40 (8"x16").

Anyway, anything to get me started would be much appreciated.

BOSE never dissatisfied me, so it might be good for you

Is this a good deal, or are there better deals for USB 5.1 or 7.1 systems that don't compromise sound quality? I'd prefer to keep my price below $400 USD, but am willing to pay as much as $850 if theincrease in price isreally worth it, I like bass a lot in my music, but will also be watching movies and playing games with this system.

I love it. I got it when it was first new and absurdly expensive back in 2017 but I don't think I've heard a better speaker system on a computer

EDIT: Nevermind it's the same price but still very quality
