I own different than the other people's Sonys and Canons:
I have the Casio ZR100, and I love it.
But, don't have much to compare it to, since I've had it for years. Replaced the previous version Casio when my kids smashed it.
As usual for P&S low-light is difficult, but great pictures in light. Excellent at doing macro shots, and has a huge zoom to 300mm.
Also, good at video. And has this neat slow-motion video feature to take video at 240, 480.. up to 1000fps (though 1000 requires So much light to even see, and is so small it's basically unusable). But the 240 is cool for taking sports videos, etc, of kids, fun.
Has taken a beating in my pocket, around parks, hiking, everywhere.
Slow motion Example - action at 20sec
A lot of people love the casio exlim cameras. They do 1000 fps, 400, and 210 (IIRC).
I think the models to look for are fc-100, fc-150, or the fh-100 (probaly hard to find though). Maybe there are some new models out.
The Casio ex-zr100 is around $250, it does 1000, 480 and 240.
