Yeah I don't know about vitamin E either. Regardless, II would vote for focusing on avoiding the sun over anything if you are hesitant to do too much. Wear sunscreen even if you are wearing a shirt.

What I was using was pretty small and expensive ($50) but it lasted a long time when I used it sparingly and you don't need much so it might be a good investment to get actual topical, silicone gel scar treatment if you are nervous. (And can afford it.)
In this study, they started pretty early with the gel. Amazon link this stuff looks like it is just silicone and some of the reviews talk about using it on scars. It is about $14 it seems.
