Something like these. I used to see some that looked more like lab safety glasses when I was in Kaiser's optometry department.
When I had a full eye exam, they had to dilate my pupils to check my retinas and such. Afterwards, they gave me a little plastic thing to slip between my lenses and my eyes to help with the brighter-than-usual light. You can ask your doctor at your next eye exam if you can get one of those.
