I have EarPeace HD High Fidelity Hearing Protection: Ear Plugs for Concerts and Music Professionals (Silver Case /White Plugs) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00FMRZJ3Y/

But I don't go to concerts so I can't say how it is for that. It turns loud films into ideal volume, consistently across hz. I have left them in for conversation and it works, barely visible.

If I ever want more than this I'll get custom makes. Specsavers are a uk high street shop who can do the moulding.

Following research these got recommended a lot. Or the v-moda pair

I use Earpeace. To be honest I bet they're exactly what you had, ear plug with a small hole for sound. I find them infinitely better than solid foam, but I agree they're not true sound.

I find if I yawn or wiggle my ear canal it blocks less and sounds better... but that's probably because it dose not seal properly and is letting too much noise past.

I still use them every gig because they're the best handy option I know of at this point.

Love my EarPeace HD earplugs!

Comes with 3 in case you lose one, and has a handy carrying case that is lightweight and easy to use. Have only used them once, but was at a Marshmello gig and we were close to the front/speakers. No issues that night or the next day with ringing ears! Felt comfortable all night, too.
