I took macroeconomics with Marc Lieberman at New York University, he wrote this expensive-ass book: http://www.amazon.com/Economics-Principles-Applications-Robert-Hall/dp/0324421451

On the first Day, first lecture, he told us that the "trickle down theory" does NOT work and proceeded to show us various examples of why it does not. It opened up my eyes, I really wish I had recorded it. He pretty much told us that all economists know it doesn't work but the ones that support it are the ones who have something to earn from it.
