Don't penny pinch on an off brand power supply. not worth potential system damage.

Edit: Post your full specs and budget situation and I can more accurately pick out a psu but this should be perfect for only $10 more than the offbrand from walmart

It doesnt have to be really expensive, something like a EVGA 500 BQ (which is $54) will be more than enough for the 1080 and 7600k. If you want to get the 750W for what ever reason its just $16 more expensive. Nvidia themselves a 500W psu for the 1080 with a good cpu like the 7600k factored in,

Also the CX-series is fine if your system doesn't require a lot of power or if your system is ultra budget. Also the EVGA ones have sleeved cables which looks much nicer than the Corsair one. The CX psus with the green lables have not the best quality caps and use thin gauage wires if i recall correctly and is not suitable if you are planning to overclock in the future.

If you still want a Corsair CX psu, get ones with a gray logo, those are the new ones and they use higher quality components. But they are much more expensive for some reason so I would recommend the evga ones.

If you dont care about the all black cables on the BQ get the B1 which is a bit cheaper but the same PSU IIRC Here

Okay, here's what I recommend.

You'll need a new power supply, which will bring the total to around $330 with rebates unfortunately, but you're getting great value. You could get that $30 back and more easily by selling your current 660.

Graphics card: R9 390. Outperforms a GTX970 in most games, and has over double the usable VRAM (8GB vs ~3.5). This one has a $20 rebate, and will max out most games at 1080p.

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=N82E16814131686

Power supply: you'll need 600-700W to power the 390 and this is a great deal. Very reliable and great value for money (backed by positive reviews).

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B018JYHBE6/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?qid=1457155304&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=evga+600&dpPl=1&dpID=51wm2AEEp4L&ref=plSrch

So for around $330, you're upgrading to a beast of a system :) Anything less than a 390 and it won't be a huge, noticeable upgrade over your current PC. If it matters, the 390 will provide enough horsepower to make your PC "VR Ready," so VR will definitely be a possibility in the future!

Just for an objective rating, here's mine.

Thoughts PCMR?

Personally, I would go for an EVGA power supply, as Corsair CX series is usually known to be pretty bad quality. I would go for something like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-BRONZE-Warranty-Tester-100-B1-0600-KR/dp/B018JYHBE6/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1479352779&sr=1-2&keywords=evga%2Bpsu&th=1)

u/deveneyinteractive · 1 pointr/h1z1

I have learned with H1Z1, that it behaves much better online with a hard line internet connection.

Also, I have found This 700w Power Supply far superior and roughly the same price as the 500w you choose.

Also, if you currently have a PC, you could in theory use the optical drive from it in your new build, save ya around $20. Optical Drives are not as necessary as they once were.

With that $20 savings you could get more ram, (I know you said you might upgrade down the road) but you can get something very value such as This 16gb Ram set for cheaper than the one on your list.

Although my personal opinion and recommendation would be This 16gb Ram Set.

Good Luck on your 1st Build!

while personally id opt for a whole new build, not everyone has that kinda cash to just throw down so i'll throw my recomendations as far as what youve presented so far.

First: The PSU - dont buy cheiftech opt for a evga 700W bronze they can be had right now for $40.

Second: the Ram - While buying your ram an extra 2gb will get you by the mhz on the current ones is low for what your motherboard supports id personally opt for the 8GB stick of Kingston fury x for $45

Third: The graphics card - Now heres where id chime in you mentioned a 750ti but new those are still going to $100 for an extra $50 you can grab a gtx 1050ti and have a hell of a lot more performance for the price and be in the current gen of graphics cards.

Anyways if you have any questions let me know.

Right now there's a pretty good deal on a 700W EVGA for $40 on Amazon. Its more than you need, but actually cheaper than the lower wattage models.

R9 380. It will fit into your case
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150730

Edit: 60 fps might be hard to get in some games with everything maxed out, but lower a few settings such as anti aliasing and it will be running at a good FPS

Edit 2: Mabye a slightly bigger power supply as well. This one is cheaper as well and made by EVGA.

Edit 3 : NVM on the power supply ( since you already bought one).

u/eperezrubio1 · 1 pointr/buildapc

That probably will barely be enough, but overclocking headroom and more power-consuming parts in the future won't be that much of a possibility. I would go with a 700w PSU. I found one from EVGA for 65$ in amazon.

Quality appears to be on par with the EVGA 700B that can be had at Walmart for $39 with no rebate. Amazon is prime matching that in-store price for Prime members, here. Though, I can't understand why someone would want a low quality PSU with such a high wattage.
