Brigham Young:
>"Our religion embraces chemistry; it embraces all the knowledge of the geologist, and then it goes a little further than their systems of argument, for the Lord Almighty, its author, is the greatest chemist there is."

Also, whenever I get the chance, I love to plug Steven Peck, a biostatistician and author of Evolving Faith: Wanderings of a Mormon Biologist. Based on your medical student status (I'm premedical myself), you'd probably really love this book.

Definitely camp 3. Nelson's opposition to evolution in a 2012 talk really bothered me.

A good book on evolution is Evolving Faith by BYU professor Stephen Peck.

He works hard at reconciling Mormonism with actual, type 3 evolution. He gets pretty radical, it's quite interesting.
