Just a Foodsaver and their bags. It will seal mylar, but I just use the rolls of plastic bags and have no problems. A 8" × 20' roll will package 3 lbs.

The setting for wet foods on the Foodsaver will work just as was described. The sealer is supposed to suck out some of the liquid, and as with any sealer, you should try to get out as much air before you insert the bag, no matter what.

I have a FoodSaver V3460, I received this as a hand-me-down. The person who gave it to me, couldn't get it to work. As it turned out, it worked just fine, the person using it didn't put the bags all the way in the sealer for it to start working, which you should take note of.

Secondly, the trays in the FoodSaver sealers have a neoprene gasket in them. You want to make sure that after each and every use (especially if you're sealing wet food), you clean and dry that gasket. After a while if not cleaned properly, it builds up gunk, is hard to clean, and starts to compact after time and becomes worthless. It'll save you a lot of hassle and time if you just clean it in warm soapy water, rinse it off and let it air dry before putting it back into the sealer.

The sealer is loud. If you don't want to wake anyone up, I don't recommend using it.

The biggest pain, is trying to save by buying bags that aren't really pricey. Sam's Club usually has the best pricing for the large kits of bags that FoodSaver sells, ironically it's cheaper there than through FoodSaver's website. Find someone who has a membership and if they have a FoodSaver too, go in half on it and save some cash.

There are plenty of knockoff sealing bags that you can buy from Amazon or Ebay, but it's really hard to tell by the reviews what really works and what really doesn't.

Here's a serious pro tip: If the seller is on the up and up and you're uncertain as to whether you'll like the bags or not, kindly ask them for a sample of the material. Usually, you'll get a response back where the seller will send you a small piece or two to try out and see if it works right.

This is the one me and the wife got a few years back https://www.amazon.com/FoodSaver-Automatic-Vacuum-Sealing-System/dp/B001E75OSG/ref=sr_1_13?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1499789777&sr=1-13&keywords=vacuum+seal+machine Many uses, not just kratom, but works great for kratom.... If you use this kind you kind of have to crimp the end slightly so you dont suck up any powder, it doesnt get too much powder. And if you do it often remember to clean out the tray and the heat seal strip
