Hello,

I plan to buy a 2600X for my gaming / engineering PC.

I've read that ryzen benefits tremendously from better RAM speeds and latencies, so I plan to pair it with ram that supports operating at 3466mhz with thight CL14 latencies.

This is the RAM I plan to buy: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B01ACODPHI/

It should be Samsung b-die which supports OC to 3466@cl14. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Now to the question: How much does the motherboard matter when it comes to this?

Can I do this without issues on a B350 board? Or is memory support on B350 down to luck, and to guarantee those memory speeds I need x470?

I want a micro-atx build so that's why I'm looking at B350 boards, and obviously the money savings too.

the ram is this. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ACODPHI/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=A2D1YQFFOF9GHP&psc=1 i assume thats about the best and is bdie? 3200 cl14

I had thought that but the 3200 CL14 variant are £2 more expensive.

Edit - those are the only ones I could find though, didn't try newegg truth be told. RAM prices are all over the place right now.

Single sided dram works better than dual dram for Ryzen. I maybe wrong, but c15 memory with corsair is usually double sided.

The best compatible memory is G-skill single sided https://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-TridentZ-288-Pin-SDRAM-F4-3200C14D-16GTZ/dp/B01ACODPHI/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502555669&sr=1-6&keywords=trident+memory

MX300 is what people here generally recommend, mainly because it provides such a good price for a good product. Reliability isn't really a concern, SSDs are very sturdy to begin with and both of these are high quality products, the differences are mostly just in performance. 850 EVOs have a tad better performance than their competition, however when the pricing of the 850 EVOs is at the same level as entry level NVMe drives, it becomes questionable if the higher performance is worth it. For most people, they would prefer the extra capacity over the performance, given that the per-GB price is almost twice for the 850 EVOs. Hell you could even put two MX300:s in RAID 0 if you also wanted the performance.

Yes, for the CAS Latency, less latency is better. It's measured in clock cycles, which is why the CAS Latency increases at higher RAM frequencies. That one is a decently priced CL16 kit although there would be a similar Gskill kit with the other primary timings being slightly better (16-16-16-36), https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01ACOC6MS?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF seems to be the best CL15 one and https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01ACODPHI?smid=A3JWKAKR8XB7XF seems be the best priced CL14.

If you are afraid of the sound, you can try look for a keyboard with Brown switches (Preferably Cherry MX or Gateron brand). It's less noisy than the blue switches and very enjoyable to write on, at least for me, as that's what I'm using right now.

RAM is like new and is that SKU with those speed and timings. New on those timings sells for £236.00 on https://www.amazon.co.uk/G-SKILL-F4-3200C14D-16GTZ-Trident-DDR4-Memory/dp/B01ACODPHI

I found this that can possibly replace the Flare X series ram. What do you think?
