It's just a USB-C Hub with HDMI out. HDMI costs Nintendo $10k per year and $0.04 to $0.15 per device (I would bet it's $0.04, HDCP and logo used).
I don't know about USB licensing fees, but every cheap device uses USB, can't be high if there are any.

The rest is inexpensive plastic. Can't be hard to produce, no precision manufacturing, no new machines to carve the dock from a single block of aluminum, etc. Simply overpriced. I'm almost ok with the Pro Controller or Joy-Con prices, the dock's price isn't ok.
Edit: USB-C to USB and HDMI for $28 https://www.amazon.com/G1-Tech-Charging-Chromebook-Aluminum-Case-Silver/dp/B01MXSJVTP/

So this is $28.88
Add your $20 typc charger and your at $38.88 and then $5 your at $43.88
The plastic casing would be max $5 . So your under $50.
Mind you all the parts we've listed except the price for the plastic have multiple layers of profit built in . How much is the profit is the question.
