You should definitely consider the Gigabyte Aero 15X as well (used - very good condition):

  • 15.6" 5mm Thin Bezel FHD 144Hz Pantone X-Rite - 1920x1080 IPS anti-glare display LCD
  • Intel Core i7-8750H (2.2GHz-4.1GHz)
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GDDR5 8GB Max Q
  • 16 GB DDR4 2666MHz Memory
  • 512GB M.2 NVME PCIe SSD

    - 2 years global warranty

From what I've heard, it has excellent build quality, The GTX 1070 MaxQ is ~106% faster than the GTX 1050ti. It has plenty of memory, fast storage and a Pantone X-Rite certified (color accuracy certification) 144Hz IPS display!

To keep portability in mind, I'd recommend either the MSI GS65 Stealth Thin or Gigabyte Aero 15W, both of which are thin and light gaming devices that will be able to run the games you listed. Both have the 6-core i7 processor and GTX 1060 graphics card. It will perform in the games you listed very well. Display is a 144Hz on both.

Since you're open to expanding to $2,200, you can get the upgraded models: the other MSI GS65 Stealth Thin and Gigabyte Aero 15X.

u/LonerIM2 · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

If you are open to other options, I would recommend this [Gigabyte Aero] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BSXCCHK/?tag=bkadamos_alltest-20) because it comes with everything you need, 8th generation, i7 hexa core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16GB of ram for smooth multitasking, good SSD storage of 512GB for faster boot up and loading, 15.6 inch Full HD IPS 144Hz screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, long battery life, GeForce GTX 1070 GPU that should be able to handle games on medium to high settings with very good FPs, thunderbolt port, lightweight, RGB keyboard, and it’s within your budget.

If you really want a MacBook Pro, the only decent option is to get a 15" which is the only one with a discrete GPU. The basic model is $2,399 https://www.apple.com/shop/buy-mac/macbook-pro?product=MPTR2LL/A&step=config# For the same price you can get a better Windows gaming laptop, something like https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-Aero-15X-v8-BK4-i7-8750H/dp/B07BSXCCHK/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1526634851&sr=1-2&keywords=gigabyte+aero+15x

Pretty much all of them are going to at least appear to have good build quality. The problem is good 'build quality' doesn't necessarily mean great longevity as unexpected parts, such as the hinge, can wear down and become damaged.

Gigabyte is a pretty solid manufacturer with their Aorus line and their Aero line (such as the new Aero 15x. But Gigabyte and Razer share the problem of poor customer support.

My best advice would just be to not over-spend. The concept of thin-and-light gaming laptops is still a very new reality (at least in high end laptops), so a lot of the build designs are fairly untested to consumers. I do know if you spend $2k on a laptop that fails after a year, you'll be a lot less upset than if you spend $5k on one that fails.

u/techstar2000 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Since weight and size are important and I am assuming you might need a decent battery life, in that budget , I would say definitely go for this Aero 15x with the new and powerful 6 cores i7 processor and the GTX 1070 graphics card for gaming., It is very light weighted, has an excellent battery life and with it's performance power, it will complete all the tasks you have to do very well.

For programing at this price range I would advise you to check one of those laptops

Did you have a look on theGigabyte Aero 14Wv7 I think it's great option for you as it comes with: -

CPU: i7-7700HQ

GPU: GeForce GTX 1060

RAM: 16 GB

Display: QHD 14 IPS screen with high color ranges.

Storage: 512 SSD,- HDD

Long battery life

It is a great choice because of its great heat management system and high build quality, along with its specifications makes it the best option for your usage and it is within your budget. If you could pump your budget a little the new Aero 15 X might be a good idea as it comes with the more powerful hexa core i7 processor.

u/Masonecv · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

I was looking at that one and comparing it to this aero 15x and its a little cheaper and easier on the eyes (imo) but it has half the storage and I heard the aero15x screen is supposed to be better..

If anyone is looking for a gaming laptop, check out the Aero 15x, https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B07BSXCCHK/ref=dp_olp_used_mbc?ie=UTF8&condition=used&m=A2L77EE7U53NWQ with the 20% off + tax it comes down to $1,619.09.

u/WalrusUltimate · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Thanks for the suggestion! Looks great, and I'll keep it in mind, though I might have to rule it out as I'm really picky about those arrow keys, plus I'm thinking to get RTX if I can manage it.

I'm also probably ruling the Aero out... there are a slew of 1-star Amazon reviews that would seem to suggest it won't last very long.

After agonizing over it all day, I've basically narrowed it down to the MSI Stealth G65 at this point. Seems like it should only draw 15W or so when web browsing, the hardware looks top notch, and the laptop's well received all around. My only gripe with it was the wide touchpad, which I might hit accidentally with my wrist, but I'm going to go back to the store and decide if it's something I can get used to. Among the reviews I've read was a positive one from somebody who uses it for programming, so that makes me feel a bit more confident.

can you please fill in the forum on the top post of this subreddit?

also check the aero 15 from gigabyte, they have so many options available that are within your budget, the msi g 75 stealth is a good option as well within this budget.

here is a link for potential models:

Scar II is pretty decent. Another alternative will be the -> GigaByte Aero 15x.

It packs the latest hexacore processor, a GTX 1070, 16G RAM, 512GB M.2 NVME SSD and a 15.6" thin bezel 144Hz display which is actually pretty common for what you get at this price range. What stands out is the metal chassis build that does not scream gamer and the huge 94Wh battery. Best if you can try it at your local stores and see if it works for you. Good luck!

Its no doubt a pricey product, but you are getting something so great.

Check out this one too ( https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-Anti-Glare-Display-i7-8750H-GeForce/dp/B07BSXCCHK?th=1 )

I have just found it, it looks great and its 1700$ with the discount.

But I'm really really confused about what should I get.... god there are lots of great products out there.

Hello! Guess you could be interested in the ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX531

  • 15.6” 144Hz Display
  • Intel i7-8750H CPU
  • GeForce GTX 1070 MAX-Q
  • 16GB DDR4
  • 512GB NVMe SSD

Though if you are left handed the trackpad placement might be quite uncomfortable. This laptop has especially excellent thermals (which is why they moved the keybaord to the bottom, which feels more like a traditionnal desktop one due to placement).

Another choice with excellent battery life would be the Gigabyte Aero 15

If you are talking about this version of GIGABYTE Aero 15X, yes its good choice, and you can connect another 4K display via HDMI.

>Though the GS65 does come with W10 Pro, vs Home for the Aero.

I am not sure which one it comes with, on the top line specs it says wndows 10 home, but the on the full specs it says windows 10 Pro.
