Since first party weapon mounts for the GoPro are ridiculously expensive we decided to take matters into our own hands, this one cost about $5 to make.

We took one of the flat adhesive mounts drilled a couple holes into it, which lined up with the holes on a cheap scope ring mount, then used one of the 90 degree clamps to get the camera oriented down the barrel. It seems a little tall, but we've come to realize that the height is actually perfect for getting the barrel in frame - mounting closer to the rail made the weapon take up too much of the frame (with the rifles, anyway) I'll see about posting some video / pictures from the gopro later.

I know, it's not pretty - but it works great.

Here's what he's really offering you after you sift out all of his BS copypasta and MSRP prices.

  • Hero2: Outdoor Edition (all of the adhesive mounts, skeletons doors, etc. that he says are additional are actually just the standard kit for this pack) ALSO NOTE: Unless I'm overlooking it, he's keeping the vented helmet mount and the head-strap mount for himself. THIS IS A RIP OFF. You can get this FULL kit on Amazon for $240.
  • Gen 1 Wifi Bacpac and remote kit (This is $79 straight from GoPro, free shipping, not $99)
  • Gen 1 LCD Bacpac (again, this is only $69 straight from GoPro)
  • 32GB Memory card (doesn't say what kind... but most of us use the $25 Class 10 Sandisk, which works with both the Hero2 and Hero3 cams. No need to spend "$58")

Ultimately, you could buy this all brand-spanking-new for ~$413.

BUT, he's taking TWO mounts for himself that would cost you $30 to replace, he's not including the card, and his camera has been used.

I've seen Hero2's for as low as $150 on Craigslist, and see them COMMONLY for $200 with a few accessories.

My opinion is that this is a bad deal. I would not take it.

EDIT: I just checked my local craigslist. There are 2 for sale, one is camera and case only (no accessories or card) for $170, and the other is for the camera, case, and a few mounts for $175. Your deal is bad... UNLESS you want EXACTLY those accessories.

What do you think about buying the Hero2 Outdoor Edition?

Also, is the WiFi back and remote worth the money?

I have the GoPro HD Hero 2 outdoors edition, this edition will come with a lot of what you need, like sticky mounts to mount to your helmet. You will need to get an SD card because GoPros do not come with them, i went on amazon and bought a 32 GB one, http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-32GB-Flash-Memory-SDSDB-032G-B35/dp/B002G12OBO/ref=pd_cp_e_2 there's the link for that. 32 GB is the biggest it will take and i recommend getting that, because with that the battery will die before you run out of space. Another accessorie i suggest getting is a pole mount from www.gopole.com this is the classic mount for snowboarding, it allows you to film yourself or turn it around and film friends to make those nice edits. If you are debating between HD Hero and Hero 2 go with Hero 2, its a little more but its worth it for the quality of the video, I got mine discounted on amazon http://www.amazon.com/GoPro-HD-HERO2-Outdoor-Edition/dp/B005WY3TI4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1346967661&sr=8-1&keywords=gopro+2

Amazon had it for 5% off just a few days ago. I went ahead and jumped on that even though I only saved 15 bucks. I did get free shipping and no tax too, so that's ok.

The surf edition is 9% off ($274) and the outdoor edition is 7% off ($280).

This might be way off, but have you considered something like a GoPro?

I have no idea what you're wanting the camera for, but they're cool to have around if you're looking more to document your adventures than to compose photographs of specific things.

In canada your friend might be able to get as much as $300;

but when I saw those prices, I went direct to GoPro and ordered a new one from them instead. Being realistic, your friend can probably get $150-$200 if it is in great shape. Pure speculation though
