I just discovered the beauty of rosewater, and it's amazing! I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001U2BUJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_bsn3AbQA0VY2A
My easily irritated, acne-prone skin calms down a lot when I spray this goodness on. Flakes disappear, complexion looks plump and bouncy, and I don't even need moisturizer after!

I used the rose mist I bought bc everyone was obsessing over. I used it today actually, bc I threw it in my purse hoping to use it up if I carried it with me. It smelled so weird and chemically.. I don’t even think it is that chemical laden but I may be wrong. I remember reading all their ingredients in ulta and I was under-impressed to say the least.

I like 1000 roses toner spray much much better, or the rose glycerin toner by them or some pink bottle at the vitamin shop.

this is the shit. actually I just talked myself into buying some again. my skin looked plump af with this. screw Mario b.

This is one!

It's rosewater & glycerin, which two of the ingredients that make MAC's Fix+ do what it does.

i think it doesn't make a ton of sense to look into niche products with unusual ingredient lists when you're trying to figure out an ingredient sensitivity. i think you should look for the shortest possible ingredient lists that don't contain butylene glycol, which is a top ingredient in both the toners you've had problems with (and the hada labo...). the first one that comes to mind is innisfree's the minimum toner, which contains glycerin and propylene glycol, but no BG.

ETA: if that doesn't help, i think you have to try one that only has glycerin for a humectant ingredient, and the only one i know of is this.

I have dry skin and bought Thayer’s aloe Vera witch hazel and was too harsh on my skin (had a burning sensation and left skin red when applied).

The one I TOTALLY recommend that I have been using for a while now is a Rosewater and Glycerin spray (Around $8 on Amazon ). I’m on my 4th bottle already, and omg it is so good! It leaves my skin so hydrated! (I usually spray all over face and let it dry without rubbing it). Since it is not expensive I totally recommend you give it a try.

Collagen doesn’t do much for skin since our skin can not absorb it. The top ingredient is Glycerin which is what made your skin feel better since it is a humectant.

You would be better just buying a glycerin based toner like this one, or this one.

HG face wash that cleans well but is not drying at alllll/super gentle, and is well-priced for quantity, AND foams without sulfates:

Hada Labo Rohto Gokujyn Hyaluronic Acid Cleansing Foam (Amazon)

Also Kiku is absolutely my love. I would have trash trash skin without it. Helps with PIH, dry skin, oily skin, balances drying from acids, good all year round, quick absorbing, nice as primer too tbh.

Both of these things have made a world of difference because my skin spirals downwards really quick if I take either of these two out, as I have sadly learned twice last year.

Other random products:

  • Heritage Store Rosewater & Glycerin (Amazon) - Another HG product I like to use after applying everything, and then just mist my face; leaves skin supple and bouncy; also works as primer; nice throughout the day too
  • Heritage Store Rose Petals Rosewater Facial Toner Alcohol Free (Amazon) - Almost exactly as top, but not as sticky/supple
  • CeraVe PM Lotion - I like to use this as a substitute for Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformer

I noticed that you you mentioned that your skin is stressed. In that case, here's what you can look for that might help with stressed skin:

Look for unscented products or those without too many ingredients. Cetaphil, CeraVe, Eucerin, Aveeno, Weleda, Dr. Hauschka are good places to start.

Look for ingredients that might help to calm skin, like calendula, chamomile, oatmeal, rose, aloe vera.

  • Check out the Weleda 'Wild Rose' and 'Calendula' lines.
  • Mario Badesco Chamomille night cream gets great reviews.
  • I personally like the Heritage Rosewater and glycerin and use it on my face and hair.
  • Aveeno is all about oatmeal in their products.

So just look around, go with your gut feeling on what you think you'll like, add one thing at a time and evaluate!

I'm curious about the rosewater and glycerin.

u/MsMerriam · 2 pointsr/AsianBeauty

Of course! I tried to keep it as un-overwhelming as possible, but feel free to ask if you have more questions! I kind of got thrown into the deep end alone when I started AB, so I'm happy to help when I can.

Oh, of the moisturizers I suggested: for the SNP gels, bird's nest is primarily a whitening and elasticity-boosting ingredient. Cactus functions more like aloe or bamboo, so it's primarily a hydrating ingredient. Personally, I greatly prefer the bird's nest, but if you're sensitive to fragrance at all, go with the cactus. c: You can find either one on Amazon for ~$10. There are even a few listing with Prime shipping if you have that (I hate waiting, lmao).

I know I mentioned that Ladykin whitening cream, but I forgot that it has alcohol in it, so for now I would actually avoid it until you get your skin sorted a bit more. Alcohol in skincare isn't bad, per se, but it also isn't helpful to people like us with damaged moisture barriers.

Also (I swear this is all), here are a few links to good, inexpensive face mists:

Mario Badescu Rose, Aloe & Herb

Heritage Rosewater & Glycerin

Mizon Snail Repair Hydro Mist

Are you using rosewater & glycerin? That's better than rosewater by itself! I like this one.

Also try Avene or La Roche Posay thermal spring water-- i use these throughout the day. If you want to be luxurious, I've heard Caudalie grape water is good.

A good strategy for preventing flaking is to layer some argan oil under your makeup or mix it into your moisturizer. If you put some mineral powder as the last step it won't look too oily.

Congrats on your new job!

I think you would enjoy Philippine dried mango! It's a delicious snack.  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Q5NSAS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Gndqzb70JZB0S OR perhaps you'd enjoy this refreshing rose water spray. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001U2BUJW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ZvdqzbWSVZHFS

I'd appreciate this set of circular knitting needles. I'm antsy to start making my own socks! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01EW5V38Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_YtdqzbNM8R3TQ

u/princessplant · 1 pointr/AsianBeauty

this one from Amazon!!! I put it in a smaller bottle that sprays better but it works perfectly!

u/jigglywigglybooty · 1 pointr/MakeupAddiction

It's has a strong smell. I know that the [Heritage Rosewater+ Glycerin] (https://www.amazon.com/Heritage-Store-Rosewater-Glycerin-Ounce/dp/B001U2BUJW) is the brand most people recommend, but I never see it at my WF or Sprouts and I don't like going into the Vitamin Shoppe.

it works for me though, and it's a good way for me to keep my skin hydrated at night, despite the fact that I'm oily.

If the Vanicream was working well for you, the safest thing to do would be to drop anything new you've added and go back to that until your face is back to baseline. In terms of Benton products, the Snail Bee High Content Skin toner is actually much more moisturizing than the Snail Bee essence, because that's what it's designed for: the toner's primarily for hydration, whereas the essence is primarily for inflammation.

Water-based hydrating toners like Snail Bee HC Skin, the Hada Labo lotions, this, or this tend to be less likely to cause acne than creams, since there's nothing in there to clog your pores with. The problem with them is that they're much less occlusive than creams, which means they don't hold moisture in well.

The way to fix this is to use a second, more occlusive product afterwards, basically as a seal. Since Vanicream Light has a lot of petrolatum, which is a good occlusive, what you might try is using a hydrating toner and then putting the Vanicream on top of it.
