When I turn up bass, with either the instrument knob or the amp knob, bass volumes don't get louder. I can pluck my E string as I turn the amp bass knob from 5 to 10, and there is no difference. I can only raise bass volume by turning up overall volume, but then I have to account for the upper range being really loud.

This is my amp. Is it just a pretty low-quality amp? It's rather old too. And this is my bass. I mean to get a new one. I guess there could be something wrong with either of them because I had them for a few years not taking them seriously.

Also, is "Presence" on the amp similar to gain?

Thanks a lot for any help. I play upright bass more, so this electronic knowledge feels necessary but daunting.
