I wear Inov8 Roclite 288 GTXs. When I purchased them, they were the lightest Goretex boots in the world (they're 288g; since then they have been replaced by the 286 model, which is 2 grams lighter). As Jazicle notes, regular ultralight boots or trailrunners will let dust in, but Goretex is dust-proof. My socks looked completely clean every night when I took them off.

They're not sexy, but they're very comfortable and the lighter your shoes the more energy you have to travel and climb.

I wear ankle-height wicking athletic socks with them day and night. I brought one pair of socks per day, but the boots make a good enough seal that it wouldn't make much difference to bring fewer.
