Two excellent resources I've found on the issue of cutting, as having just recently, and still, walking through this with a student in my student ministry.

Love and pursue in love. Understand they have deeper seeded issues going on than self harm. And also realize, you won't have all the answers (very hard for a fixer like me).

Hey, I'm a cutter too but I've managed to get it almost completely under control. Please PM me or reply and I'll give you some advice on coping mechanisms that help a lot. I highly recommend a book called Inside a Cutter's Mind. It's written for family and friends of cutters but it's really, really useful and it talks about the science behind cutting. Let me know if you want more insight. I started cutting at 14 and I'm now 21. All but 1 of my scars have faded. I still hurt myself once in a while but rarely leave a mark. Recovery is possible. It's scary but it's possible. I'd love to help you.
