I found these for £657. It is just a little over budget but it will be truly worth it.

There are no external speakers provided in the build so you would have to use the Monitor's speakers through the HDMI. But this is an easy £30 upgrade in the future. The processor is a Haswell i5 and can be upgraded to an i7 Haswell with no compatibility issues. The GPU is also easily upgradable in the future.

The PC should run games much, much better than the prebuilt one you showed me. Again, building a PC is very easy to do if you watch a guide on the internet. It is comparable to LEGO pieces with a bit of wiring thrown in to make it more fun.

This should be a good start.

Intel Core i5-4570 Quad-Core Desktop Processor 3.2 GHZ 6MB Cache- 16GB ram

I would prefer remote access without subscription, my internet is LTE for my house. as i have no cable or dsl access.

bascially about $1000 ish to biuld a new server found 16core R720 on ebayfor 400), about $600 ish to repair the current one

i had to set all my camera to direct to disk in BI other wise the processor ran at 100%

My motherboard in current PC is fried, so it's time for some upgrades. My main question is, can I reuse my current CPU with an upgraded motherboard, RAM, and GPU? It's an Intel Core i5 i5-4570 3.20 GHz Processor.

Will all these components work together?

I have a good 550W power supply, brand new as I just purchased it in trouble shooting current build. Also have two SSDs that I think are in pretty good shape.

Any help much appreciated!

Gotcha, what a mess. I'm thinking of buying this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CO8TA4I/

Could I get a thumbs up/down from you before I pull the trigger? Really appreciate all your help.

Will definitely take a look at those i5's. Is buying a used processor a good idea? what is the lifespan on these if they aren't overclocked? right now i'm looking at this one https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Quad-Core-Processor-Graphics-BX80646I54570/dp/B00CO8TA4I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1493770129&sr=8-1&keywords=i5+4570

I too have been gaming on a laptop for quite some time; specifically the ASUS G73JH. I am also planning on building a desktop around being able to maximize on Star Citizen.

There will be some hardware improvements in the next year, such as X99 which I plan on investing my money into at some point...

You could get an Intel i5 processor using the Haswell architecture, or if you have the money you could go the route of Haswell-e architecture which allows for the X99 chipset and DDR4 ram. Most will say an Intel i5 is more than sufficient for gaming right now... as most dont utilize the features that an Intel i7 has to offer at the moment. But there is nothing saying Star Citizen couldn't in the future.

Just know that if you DO NOT plan to overclock, change voltages or clock speeds, on your processor you do NOT need to buy the unlocked processor, which is indicated with the letter K at the end like: Intel i5 3570K.

Next year, you will probably see a lot more on the Maxwell architecture on Nvidia GPU's, the only Maxwell based cards are the Nvidia 750 series.

Just lost my train of thought due to the "Future of Gaming" presentation at PAX...

Get this CPU http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CO8TA4I/?tag=pcpapi-20

Its $40 cheaper and it only performes % 5 slower at most.
As for your other parts, youre overpaying for almost every component.
Once I get home ill help you out a bit more because you could save lots of money

u/RandomGuy_74 · 1 pointr/buildapc

How would the 4440 compare to a 4570 for $5 more? here

u/tcmvl · 1 pointr/buildapc

maybe a modular power supply

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/corsair-power-supply-cx600m

case could be better

maybe one of these for $10 more

  • Excellent processor. The games you're talking about strongly favor Intel, and this is close to the best CPU you can get for them.
  • Excellent graphics card. The 770 can hold its own at 1440p in most games, only struggling to put out 30FPS in the most demanding games. Just as importantly, it has Shadowplay, which, unlike AMD cards, will let you capture gameplay without a significant hit to performance.
  • No-frills motherboard. You could spend about $100 more on this, and not see a single difference unless you're trying to overclock or use dual graphics cards. If you are, let me know!
  • Case: This is totally aesthetic. The Phantom looks awesome, and costs about triple what it would if it were a boring black box. What kind of 'cool' are you looking for? I can try to dig up more modestly priced receptacles.
  • RAM, PSU, HDD, optical drive, wifi: all bog standard. Fair prices for solid tech.

You'll also want one of these if you're gonna use your Apple keyboard [bluetooth receivers]

Any questions or feedback? Lemme know!
