You could upgrade to an LGA1155 supported i5 2000/3000 series, or i7 2600-2700/3700 series CPU:

> Core i5 2550K/2450P/2380P/2500K/2500/2400/2320/2310/2300/2500S/2405S/2400S/2500T/2390T

> Core i5 3350P/3570K/3570/3550/3470/3450/3340/3330/3570S/3550S/3475S/3470S/3450S/3340S/3330S/3570T/3470T

> Core i7 2700K/2600K/2600/2600S

> Core i7 3770K/3770/3770S/3770T

Edit: From a quick search of "LGA1155" on Amazon, the cheapest quad core upgrade seems to be the i7-3770 at $115, albeit used.

The i7 would last you 2 years pretty easily. In the US, they are currently selling for a little less than $150 on eBay. Buying new is simply not a good idea since the processor costs almost as much as a 7700K which would be a decently better processor that would last longer.

Thanks! And would be able to link to an appropriate xeon for my purposes? Seems like there's lots of options. And between a xeon or i7-3770, which would you recommend? I found these listings for the i7 on amazon, what does it mean if there's a cpu only and no heatsink? Is that okay?

And just to be sure, it wouldn't bottleneck a 1660 right? I found this on ebay, would it work with the current mobo I have and an i7-3770?

And I'm also concerned about everything fitting in my current case. That should happen right?

Thisis the full list I have of mostly everything in my build- I would just be getting the PSU, CPU, GPU, and thermal paste of course.

Could get everything here for about 300, cpu and gpu used, and the other two new. Good deal or no?

Ok, so I know next to nothing about server grade components, and am currently running my Hyper-V from this processor, motherboard and ram and I have completely maxed out my RAM and am looking to build a new (and first) rack mounted server. Why are these so cheap? How would the packages on Natex compare to what I already have? lol

first time building my own pc. i have an old one that was okay for it's time but now is pretty shitty. i want to use the same processor which is an i7-3770 ( https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Core-i7-3770-Quad-Core-Processor/dp/B007SZ0EHE ).

anways in short, what is like the best motherboard i could get that is compatible with this and is around like the $80~ dollar range or less that is good?

Instead of going for a slightly faster i5, I'd go for the i7 3770 Here

I have the i7 3770 @ stock and never had to overclock to get above 60FPS Ultra settings, I'll run the same benchmark tonight and post scores.

If you want to overclock your processor, you want the K version.

I have a seller in my area selling used 2X KVR21N15S8/8 for $100 and a i7 3770 for $175. I was just wondering if this is a worth while upgrade and price compared to my current 8gb ram at 1600 and my i5 6400. My mobo only supports up to 2133 but I was still planning on getting this 16gb ram stick that's a bit overkill for my mobo but not that much of a price jump.

You could slap this in there and have a great rig, after that I would replace the GPU and PSU.

they can ask what they like look at whats sold. 1 in 5 components sell because people put they up for far to much (on eBay, and granted that's normally used) - it looks like someone did buy a 3770 this year but it doesn't say for how much.
