I agree to have her handle some knives for feel and weight. Generally speaking however some of the Pure Kamachi knives are decent value beginner knives to try. Not slippery, Light, very sharp, easy to care for and affordable..and the bright color helps you see the blade and where it is relative to the food and near fingers to show how to be careful while learning knife skills. JMO...
How about this adorable mini walrus pan and duster!? Do you cook often? If so these cute measuring cups might be useful. They are pretty and could double as decor. If you like the design but don't cook too often, you could use these storage containers for leftovers.
