this is the biggest micro SD I could find. although I'm sure a 16GB one will be fine since that's all I've had since 2011 in my original 3DS.
Amazon has some Kingston drives on sale today for a good price. $16 for 32GB and $35 for 64GB.
I use the SanDisk 64GB card which isn't too much more expensive (it sometimes goes on "extra?" sale for a little bit less). It works well, no surprises.
They (Kingston) came out with it a while agao. Have a class 2 that is 32GB and a class 10 that is 16GB. I notice no difference in load times of the library personally. When I time it with an app, the load time is about half a second sooner. Testing with a 14GB library of MP3s. When I test with a 10GB library of FLAC files it loads even faster, but thats because there are far less songs.
This is 16 GB but is only £5.44 - must be < $10
