I think the point of the infuser is to be removable so that you don't have to pour the tea out of the brewing vessel to get it off the leaves.

> That seems kind of messy and a hassle.

Less mess & hassle than having a separate serving pot, and cleaning loose leaf out of a brewing pot, I'd think.

Maybe I'm spoiled. I have one of these and it is easy to pick up the infuser, hold it over the pot while inhaling and exhaling slowly 5 times, and then put the infuser on a dessert plate (because I don't have a special coaster for it).

> Also, is there anything else I should know about brewing in a pot?

Often, the recommended leaf ratio is "1 teaspoon per cup, and 1 for the pot." I think if you have a smallish pot (like the one I linked) you can skip the one for the pot. Also the "cup" is 6oz/180ml.

I'm shopping for my first teapot and saw a thread recommending the Chatsford by Homer Laughlin. What's the difference between that one and the Chatsford by the London Teapot Company which is cheaper? They look identical. thanks!!!
