Hero pens can be cheap, generally have very smooth nibs, and have replaceable ink. Their manufacturing process is not very reliable -- you might get lucky and get a gem out of the box, but your most likely outcome is that you'll get something you have to clean and/or adjust slightly before it is "perfect". If you spend $8 on a Hero pen with an extra-fine nib and $12 on a large bottle of Noodler's ink (and have ammonia on-hand to clean your pen) you can write for years (no exaggeration) for $20 (perhaps $25 including shipping).

Edit: since you like heavier pens, here is a heavier one (about 1 oz) for $12.

Noodler's bundles cheap pens with some of their inks, too.

Bulow (a chinese firm trying to sound german) makes interesting and cheap pens too. I own an X450, which is a pretty nice pen - but watch for the nib rating. Their default is an "M", which lays down a pretty wide track of ink. The X450 is great for signing documents, is nice and heavy (which you asked for), and is well balanced in my hand -- but the nib it came with is too broad for my writing style.
