I've found it to be priceless when making things like spaghetti sauce for my nieces - I can make it homemade and include lots of onions and garlic, plus things like carrots and bell peppers (both of which sweeten the sauce and make it taste more like the store-bought stuff they love) After I puree the sauce, I put it through the mill and it comes out insanely smooth, and they have no idea that I snuck in extra veggies!
I also love it for making my pepper jelly pretty, since it removes the flecks.
I use a food mill, you get the same result but at least the tool can be used for a lot more than just potatoes.
