Hahah, sorry! It's taken a long time to get my routine to the point it's at, so don't think you need to jump into the deep end.

Ok, let me try to make this less overwhelming. Ignore everything I do for myself, and I'm just going to make a SIMPLE suggested routine for you. [I am NOT a doctor. Don't take this as medical advice. You should still probably see a doctor if you need more help controlling your issues.]

AM

*Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

  • Cerave Moisturizing Cream [aka Cerave in the tub]

  • Wait for the cream to soak in

  • Sunscreen [I'll go into suggestions at the end.]

    PM

  • Twice a week: colloidal oatmeal treatment, left on for 30-45 minutes. then rinsed off. [Can be applied to scalp too!]

  • Cerave Hydrating Cleanser

  • Cerave in the tub with added oil [details below]

Hopefully that is not as intimidating to look at!

The products listed are just suggestions. What works for me might not work for you! The structure is the main point, so you can substitute any products for something that works best for you. I suggest a non-foaming cleanser, since they tend to be less drying and you mentioned that sometimes your face feels dry and tight.

You might find Cerave in the tub to be too heavy. If so, I like their PM facial moisturizer! [For hot gross days, or sometimes just in the morning so I can apply sunscreen faster.]

I suggested adding an oil [a few drops] to your Cerave for the PM step because that's been AWESOME for me. I alternate between Argan oil and Squalane oil. Extra great when I have a flare and I'm really flaky, or in the winter when I'm super dry. Just try a few things and decide if that step is for you!

I get my colloidal oatmeal on Amazon, and it lasts FOREVER. I never mix up the treatment until I need it, so it stores pretty well. I usually just mix some colloidal oatmeal into water until I have a very thick mixture that won't drip off my face. Sometimes I play around with adding a bit of squalane or argan oil, maybe a little honey [don't do this if you're allergic to bees!], or aloe juice instead of the water. Nothing complicated. It's very nice and soothing. Just rinse it off afterwards and then wash and moisturize normally.

Ok, so sunscreen. This can be an epic quest depending on what you like/don't like in a sunscreen. My advice for the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer: either this or this probably. You want SPF 50 or better every day, all year. It's one of the best things you can do for your skin. The first once looks like a general purpose sunscreen and it comes in a larger tube. If you like it for your face, then go for it! The second one is specifically for face and is supposed to be thinner and absorb more quickly.

I use the Biore sunscreen I mentioned, but it's not sold in the US, it's from Japan. I can get it on amazon, but the shipping can take FOREVER. It absorbs in FANTASTICALLY though. I love it. [It does have alcohol, so you might not like it as much as me. /r/AsianBeauty is full of sunscreen threads. Asian sunscreens for the face are miles ahead of sunscreen in the US.] My alternative suggestion is La Roche-Posay, which is available in the US at most Walgreens! It can be pricey, but I just keep an eye out for sales and coupons, so I can manage. This is my preferred body sunscreen, since the tube is much bigger than my Asian sunscreens tend to be. It absorbs better than most US sunscreens you'll find! This is very good for the face compared to most US sunscreens and is even better than the first one I listed.

I hope this helps! Feel free to ask for clarification. :D [And honestly, I could probably mail you some samples/decants of stuff to try, if you don't think that's weird!]
