NZXT Hue

Doesn't even matter if your case is windowless, get it anyways.

u/TimeTravellerSmith · 4 pointsr/buildapc

There are a few options for easy lighting:

  • LED fans (example)
  • LED strips (example)
  • NZXT HUE (if it ever comes back in stock)

Those are all pretty straightforward. Fans just install where you've got fans, strips either go on the monitor, keyboard, or outside/inside the edges of the case. Hue is similar to the strips but is powered internally.

You can get a little more complex with things like Cold Cathode tubes.
u/BOWCHICAWAWOW89 · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It's a nzxt hue. The controller fits into a 5.25 bay but I had to get rid of all the bays in the case to fit the front radiator. Thats what you see sitting awkwardly in the bottom right of the computer. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RWT2IY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/WishIHadAComputer · 3 pointsr/buildapc

If you want something versatile the NZXT Hue is one of the best LED lighting solutions out there. If you want a red LED 200mm fan, then the Cooler Master Megaflow is a great fan.

u/soldarian · 3 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I enjoy some LEDs as well. I have the CM storm trooper case (2 front LED fans) and will most likely get the NZXT hue.

u/darklynx4 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Well if you plan to overclock you cpu and/or possibly your gpu, you probably want atleast a decent quality 650W psu.

that rosewill model is little on the lower end side of the quality scale.

case seems, ok. could probably get a more "functional" case for the price.

EDIT: as far as case recommendations.

corsair 200R/300R both have very great functionality for the price (well if you can catch 300R on sale, probably not worth $80+)

nzxt source 210/220 or tempest 210 are also very great budget cases. and they also have some nicer more expensive cases aswell.

fractal design core 3000/3500 or arc midi r2 are really really nice cases, but are pricier.

and dont buy LED fans... buy normal fans and if you want LEDs in your case get an led light strip. (why? because fan leds are cheap and crappy, and you cant turn them off)

But you probably should just skip the leds imo.
Yeah, everyone who builds a pc for the first time wants LEDs (i got an led strip above), but really 99.99% of the time, its off lol.

i had it on to show to friends/family once, and took a picture for internet, and thats about it.

u/dracoNiiC · 2 pointsr/battlestations

I use that light strip plugged into an NZXT Hue under my desk. It receives Sata Power from my PC as it's usually mounted where a CDdrive goes.

Looks like this

Can be bought here

u/RyanYags · 2 pointsr/buildapc

These are my lights: NZXT Technologies 5.25-Inch Hue RGB LED Color Changing Controller (8c-hue0000-00b) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008RWT2IY/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_3XiYtb1FZTHGKJG7

They are powered via sata and they come on a long strip with adhesive on the bottom. Fairly easy installation.

u/LzTangeL · 2 pointsr/buildapc

RAM is fine, probably could have found some similar for cheaper if anything.

pretty awesome build tho what temps do you get with that cooler?

and for LED's I would highly reccomend the NZXT Hue. It cheap and looks really nice.

u/dogfoodyum · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Nzxt Hue

Would give you the tweakable interior lighting for your case.

I bought this for my desk HitLights

It's beyond me on how to get two seperate sources connected up together, hopefully someone else has some ideas.

u/Gramzzzz · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I don't know what you mean by cheapish. You have the NZXT HUE for 31$ on Amazon(need a 5.25 bay for controller) or you can step it up to the NZXT HUE+ for 60$ on Amazon (software controlled).

Edited to fix the link.

u/bstegemiller · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

No, just this. Probably one of their best products.

u/TheSecondTier · 1 pointr/buildapc

I've done a little bit of research with LED strips, and the ones that have caught my attention in particular are the Cablemod ones (already linked), the NZXT Hue and Hue+, and the Bitfenix Alchemy. They're all from reputable companies and have good quality, it just depends what features and price you're looking for. The Hue+ is probably the most popular RGB lighting kit right now but it's pricey. The Hue is cheaper but only has adhesive foam instead of magnets (harder to move around and messier) and is meant for a 5.25" bay on your case, and is manually adjusted with the knobs on front. The Cablemod strips and the Bitfenix strips aren't controllable- they're just a color that is constantly on, I believe, but good quality. The Cablemod ones in particular are supposedly super bright, I've heard. As long as the features and price are alright with you I think you'd be okay with any of them, honestly.

Uh, 30cm and 60cm are 30 centimeters and 60 centimeters...

u/AFloppyZipper · 1 pointr/buildapc

This strip worked well for me.

It's integrated into the case itself by taking up a cd slot

u/WarriorsBlew3to1Lead · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Have the same case and used this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008RWT2IY/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?ie=UTF8&amp%3Bqid=1479659783&amp%3Bsr=8-3&amp%3Bpi=SL75_QL70&amp%3Bkeywords=nzxt%2Blight&th=1&psc=1

Blends in with the front decently, sata powered, and the light stand was long enough to go all the way around the inner perimeter where the side panel attaches. Good options, basically choose any color, brightness, and modes for flashing/strobing/breathing/changing if any of that suits you. The adhesive kinda sucks though, would recommend getting some better dual sided tape to go with it

u/calebthelion · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have the NZXT Hue and I love it, great price and really easy to use.

When it comes to the monitor I chose that one because it was the cheapest 60 Hz IPS monitor I could find. If you don't like this monitor and want to choose another make sure it's at least 60 Hz, IPS is optional but it is recommended by pretty much every enthusiast and professional.

I also didn't add any LED's because I don't know what color you want. So go here and choose the color you want. I reccomend getting 2 strips of 17-20 inches. There is a color controller thing that NZXT makes here. If you don't care about changing the colors then just get a single color. The components are mostly black and silver so ANY color will look pretty sweet. A quick note the H100i comes with an led so the Corsair logo can be lit up in any color you want.

If you really want to go heavy on the aesthetics Corsair makes sleeved cable that are colored white, red, graphite, green, blue, black. However the cables that come with the RM850 look pretty good as it is.

I threw in the SSD because they are just the greatest things ever. I put in a 3TB HDD because it should be able to hold all your stuff and is a pretty good price/GB.

If you have any questions please ask.

NZXT HUE RGB LED Controller

See the last item in the build. I've seen it between $25-35.

Here on amazon for $33 right now.

The original Hue has much better reviews (of course the Hue+ has a much smaller sample size and is relatively new).

Amazon link ~$32.

A xeon E3 (essentially a core i7 without integrated graphics) will serve you well to game + stream as it is hyper-threaded. The GTX 970 is a great GPU, if you're playing / streaming in 1080p (no real point in streaming any higher) it can play any current game with the highest settings. I went with 8GB of RAM, as gaming - streaming is not critical on RAM, but you can go for 16 now or later (4 RAM slots)

You're right, the Razer cases are a bit overpriced: S340 and H440, but you can afford it if you want. What I went with is a sober case with a window, and the NZXT hue so you can light the inside up to the color of your choice (it can also alternate between colors like your keyboard I think). [ EDIT yeah like that ] Also, it may be a tad tacky... but razer logo stickers do exist :p
u/TheNextWednesday · 1 pointr/buildapc

The NZXT Hue is a great choice for case lighting. It fits in a 5.25" bay and allows you to choose the color you want.

If you have the cash, I highly recommend investing in an SSD, at least for your OS. The difference in boot times is enormous and will make your life much better.

Don't skimp on the PSU, it's the lynchpin of the ENTIRE system, and if it fails, it has the potential to damage nearly every other part.

Do you already have peripherals such as a keyboard, mouse, monitor?

Is wireless a requirement? If not, consider ditching the linksys adapter.

I agree with the other replies that state you should probably go for a 7xx series graphics card.

The CPU you have chosen does not come with a cooling fan, so an aftermarket CPU cooler is REQUIRED. Make sure you get one that's LGA 2011 compatible. EDIT: OP updated build

The case you've chosen comes with a red LED fan in the front (I think) and no window. Is red the lighting scheme you want? without a window, is another lighting setup even necessary? This case comes with a window, is cheaper, and has excellent cable management, airflow, and noise control. It also has a window which would allow for more interesting case lighting options.

Awesome. Thank you! Although PCPP says my build's at ~347W right, I can't imagine upgrading to SLI would add that much. Although I'm probably wrong. Would a new PSU be to stay on the safe side? I'm guessing something like a 650W gold certified PSU would be what I should be going for?

I might still just get a PCIe card anyway. Wouldn't hurt to have even more USB ports and I'd like for the card reader to get speeds as fast as possible. Although if I decide to cheap out a tiny bit I'll definitely follow your suggestion!

I'm actually tempted to upgrade the RAM because of how much shit I like to have open at once even if I'm not using it. It's not unusual for me to have 15+ chrome tabs, iTunes, FIFA 15, MPC running a movie, IDM downloading a bunch of stuff, and other misc stuff open in the background even if I'm just writing an essay. If I was to go through with it, should I get 2 more 4GB sticks or just go for 2x8GB sticks for further future proofing?

edit: since I'm rambling, I'm tempted to get both this and this too. My bank balance hates me :(

u/Georgew221 · 1 pointr/buildapc

For the fans, it's honestly up to you. I would just choose which ever is cheaper but if they're really loud, then I would suggest replacing them.

As for the drive bays a RGB LED controller such as this would seem to suit your tastes.

You're also able to get drawers for your drive bays along with fan controllers and USB ports. They aren't difficult to find so a normal search should bring them up c:

u/YroPro · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

The camera is a Note 4. But it's probably just the Nzxt Hue looking great...even though I didn't attach the light strip correctly and it's falling in that picture lol. Amazing light set, would definitely buy again. I also have their touch screen fan controller, and it's fantastic.

u/goldswimmerbj · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm pretty sure they require external (power outlet power) you would probably have to modify the power connector to get them in a pc.

I highly recommend the NZXT hue though.

Forgot to mention, you can buy something like this for RGB https://www.amazon.com/NZXT-HUE-RGB-control-AA-HUE30-01/dp/B008RWT2IY/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1491432517&sr=8-8&keywords=pc+rgb+controller

It goes in the slot where a cddrive would go and allows you to hook up RGB light strips to it and control it using knobs since you can't control it through the motherboard.

u/realmain · 1 pointr/buildapc

How about one of these? They work pretty well. But you'll be stuck with one color.

Or how about a NZXT Hue?

u/monkeymanpoopchute · 1 pointr/buildapc

Sorry, it’s the Hue, not the Hue+: NZXT HUE RGB LED control (AA-HUE30-01) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008RWT2IY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZBByCbEE5E7SH

Nice!

I ended up just using something like this for my old case and then one of these the second time around. Your project is cooler, but these are just plug-and-go in case anyone wants an easy way to just throw some lights in.

I also have a 12v adapter hooked up in my bathroom so that I could run a strip around the edge of the ceiling. RGB showertime.

I'm going to piggyback on this comment to ask you something: Do you have a link for the H440? PCPartPicker doesn't have NCIX listed as a vender and it appears to be sold out on both Newegg and Amazon. I'm going to be building in two weeks.

Also, speaking of the LED module, is it this one? As far as I understand, this goes in the disk drive bay, but the H440 doesn't have one. How did you go about installing?

NZXT makes some decent LED strip kits. The NZXT Hue fits in a 5.25 bay, runs off SATA power and can be set to any RGB color. If you just want one color, you can get one of the NZXT sleeved light kits; these fit into an empty expansion port on the back and run off Molex power.

Comments:

I have selected a black/red theme. Black/red mobo, graphics card, memory, cpu cooler.

Excellent case with a large window. If you want to cut back on cost or you don't want a full tower, you can get the define r4 windowed or Corsair 300R windowed. EDIT: just to put it into perspective though, this case costs in my country the equivalent of $225...and is still a best seller.

Excellent gaming monitor, 144Hz is ultra smooth with a great graphics card.

Excellent mechanical keyboard - you should try it out somewhere first just in case the mechanical switches don't agree with you. If you want to cut back on cost, start here.

Good PSU, i've selected the 750 because it's cheap for it's wattage, modular (and good looking too) and will support SLI in case you need it in the future.

Z87 sli capable motherboard, good enough board, great looks.

Fast and cheap SSD, samsung is very reliable.

I've selected that CPU cooler because it's a good performer, nice looks and not a bad price. I had selected a noctua at first, but man that beige color is ugly (I own a D14).

Hm, that's it.

You have a pretty large gap between your minimum budget and maximum budget, and HTPCs typically fill the role of a lower budget machine. However, since you want to replace an Xbox, I opted to choose higher end parts which will slot the rig near the higher end of your budget, and is vastly superior to either of the next-gen consoles, while maintaining relatively low power consumption.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670k - Awesome CPU for overclocking and gaming.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H55 - Well-reviewed 120mm closed loop cooler that should do a great job of cooling the processor and should be relatively quiet as well.

Motherboard: Asrock Z87E-ITX - Well reviewed motherboard with lots of connectivity and good support for overclocking.

RAM: 8GB of AData XPG 1600MHz - Plenty of RAM for gaming/HTPC usage.

SSD: Crucial M500 120GB - Well reviewed SSD with great performance and more than enough storage for the operating system and commonly used programs/games.

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 7200RPM 1TB - For storage.

GPU: MSI GTX 770 - Should handle pretty much any game at high or ultra settings at 1080p.

Case: Cooler Master Elite 130 - Well-reviewed mini ITX case with good support for the cooler and enough room for all the components.

PSU: EVGA Supernova 650W - 650W 80 plus gold certified fully modular power supply. Well-reviewed with plenty of power for this system and room for upgrades as well. Having a fully modular power supply in a small case is really helpful for cable management.

OS: Windows 8.1

I know you wanted some RGB LEDs and a BluRay drive, but to keep a small form factor, you will probably need to choose one or the other. The NZXT Hue is a great little RGB controller with good reviews, but also takes up a 5.25" bay, like a BluRay drive does, so you'd have to sacrifice one. I have the Hue in my system and it's awesome.

If you wanted to spend less, you could easily downgrade to an i3 or even a Celeron, both of which are more than powerful enough to handle 1080p videos. You could also go for a lesser graphics card, like a 750ti or r7 260x to save a bit of money there as well.

The NZXT HUE RGB LED Controller. It's that top entry in my 5.25in bays. It looks to be out of stock everywhere now. It came with the LED strip. I really like it. I can finely tune it to any specific color, and it even has multiple blinking, fading, and breathing modes
