Except of course instead of the connector that goes to the Rift headband there will be 3.5 mm headphone adapter.
I had this problem happen to me. I bought it from Amazon so I contacted them and they gave me a 15% refund (of $400), I used it buy these which I found to be a massive improvement over the original headphones.
Probably not the answer you wanted, just a thought.
If it's still under warranty they'll send you replacements. Mine just went out as well. The Oculus Earphones are $49.99 and replacement headphones are $39.99.

Just FYI you can buy earbuds that work with the built-in audio connectors on the Rift (they replace the standard headphones), if you want greater noise isolation.

Additionally, the audio quality is excellent.
Or if you definitely want headphones, you could consider the JBL OR300.
I have a CV1 and I switch back and forth between the stock headphones and the Oculus Rift Earphones. I would imagine they'd work if the stock CV1 headphones work.
For $50, they're definitely above average earbuds; they are also much better in quality and price than the JBL options made for the CV1.
