I actually don't understand the Dansko cult following. They're designed to be standing shoes, not walking shoes... If you're going into a cutting specialty then it makes sense, but for the wards 3rd year? You just need a good all-around comfy walking shoe.

That being said, OP you do need to clarify whether you're talking about a dress shoe or a scrubs shoe.

Edit: I'll throw in my 2ยข. What you need are good insoles. The shoe itself, frankly, does not matter as much as people think it does. An average shoe with a properly fitting insole will be infinitely more comfortable (and more supportive for your foot in the long run) than a $300 shoe with factory insoles. And I'm not talking about any friggin' Dr. Scholls gel crap here (Dr. Scholl can go eat a bag of dicks - he should have his license revoked), I mean an actual insole with real structural support. I personally use these, but there are plenty of other good options out there as well. Stay away from Superfeet - they're the rare combination of both expensive and worthlesss.

Tl;dr - find an inexpensive shoe you like that is reasonably comfortable - then put a good quality insole in it.
