I'm pretty sure this is individual, but my IT band soreness did not get better without taking some time off. I tried to run through it but it would still come back. I then tried taking a week off and then began using an IT Band strap for a few weeks during my runs. This helped alleviate the symptoms. I got ITBS 1.5 years ago from wearing worn out shoes and ramping up mileage too quickly as a noob

I use a Pro-Tec strap (http://www.amazon.com/Pro-Tec-Athletics-Band-Compression-X-Large/dp/B004VRW1DC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1462817716&sr=8-1&keywords=pro-tec+it+strap) on each leg and wear it above the knee...maybe 3-4 inches up. I make it pretty tight but not so it shuts off circulation.

I don't know which thing helped me so I'll swear it was exercises, foam rolling and the IT strap that is fixing mine...all three! I figure I'll just keep doing my routines indefinitely
