I'm looking to replace an old NewMatter mod-t (RIP) with something a little more... um... functional. My budget is ~$1k (but for the right printer, I could go a little higher). Here's my ideal:

  • Dual extruder
  • Medium size print bed (at least ~150x150x200mm, but bigger the better of course)
  • Fully enclosed (and reasonably nice to look at)
  • Good range of material support (so heated bed)
  • Support for CURA, S3D + OctoPrint (plus Octolapse ideally, so either built in camera, or good mounting point for a camera)
  • Wifi support nice, but not required (if not Wifi, USB is a must)

So far, these are the printers I'm looking at. Feel free to critique selection/recommend others as appropriate:

  • Monoprice Dual Extruder
  • QIDI Large Size (But this fails on the dual extruder)
  • Flashforge Dreamer (Which I believe is more-or-less the same as the Monoprice above)
  • BIBO Dual Extruder (Which has bonus laser engraving module)

I'd still consider myself a beginner at this, so this may not be the best list, but hopefully someone can help me narrow down a selection.

I will take a look at it. Do you have info on maintenance? I would love to learn more about this, I have not done any to my QIDI. I'm thinking about selling it too. 2k might be too high for me... but I was looking at the QIDI Max

Thank you Thank you in advance! I so appreciate all the advice.

Budget is $1850

-USA- Georgia

-I am comfortable with building the printer, never soddered before but otherwise comfy with electronics.

-I would like to print pieces for home improvement/repair. Organization items for inside house as well as the garage (ie powertool battery storage brackets. I would like to print large items as well for ryobi yard equipment repairs. Speed of printing without sacrificing quality would be a nice. Print toys/models for my kids. I would like to use filament that is as strong as possible.

-I don’t have a lot of room with access to ventilation. My shop/garage isn’t climate controlled and gets super hott So I would have to move printer inside so an enclosure would be nice to deal with fumes and I also have two small curious children to protect them from burns. A quiet printer would be nice as well.

I was looking at the Qidi Tech X-max... the reviews appear sterling.

A couple of friends recommended the Pursa Mk3 or the Ender 5.

I don’t have a lot of time to tinker /troubleshoot a machine so reliability and ease of use is at a premium.

Sincerely thanks for all your time.
