I'm a huge fan of my Shure in-ear headphones: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001TDMVO0/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=1278548962&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0000CE1UO&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1PBWX5ENG2SXEC1NV675
I have to agree here. I've had both the se110 and the se115, and the se115 is far superior.
You can get the se115 on Amazon for about $70 right now.
I've got the Shure SE115 and love 'em. It depends what type of phones you want though. In ear? Over ear? Boombox on shoulder?
Honestly, I'd say you should just splurge and get a pair of Shures. There are other earbuds on the market, but Shure is just a cut above.
Luckily, for some reason the CL115 series are $50 and $57 for clear and pink, one of which should work for her. Otherwise they're $100.

For around $100, the Shure SE115 is a good choice.
Right now I'm still using these Shure earphones. They've served me fairly well throughout the years. Mostly listening to spoken word news and podcasts, though. The music reproduction on these is hit and miss. They were pretty great when I first got them (~5 years ago), but I let a friend borrow them and it seems she blew out the high frequencies somehow, because they never sounded the same after I got them back.
I'm thinking about upgrading to the Etymotic HF3 headset. I've had my eye on these for a while now. I will use the mic on the cord often and I'm expecting the sound to be better than other in-ears I've had in the past.
Any of you guys have experience with either of these?
I personally am a big fan of [these](http://www.amazon.com/Shure-SE115-K-Isolating-Earphones-Microspeaker/dp/B001TDMVO0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291959705&sr=8-1 "Same brand even!") when it comes to earbuds. The sound isolation is fantastic, I can put my music player at 15% volume on the bus and still hear my music fine without the external noises. That being said, these are my first pair of $35+ headphones and I may not have the trained ears to recognize the flaws. I love them anyway.
I should note that I'd never pay that much for these guys. I bought them once for $65 on sale but unfortunately I lost them. My friend works at best buy and he got me a pair (with the employee discount) for $52 after tax.
Noise reducing headphones won't help. They cut out static noise (like trains or planes), but not people talking. What you want are some sound isolating headphones. There are usually earbuds that are basically earplugs. Something like this
