Well, there is this 2112 comic book...

And not visual art, but Close to the Edge is basically Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha.

I would also highly recommend finding a temple, but unless you live in new mexico I don't really know where to point you. There are actually many different types of Buddhism and since I don't know what you're looking for I don't want to just give you my favorite flavor and call it Buddhism. So I'd look up the different types and their general themes and differences. What originally sparked my interest was Herman Hesse's 'Siddhartha'. It's by no means official literature, but it puts my favorite concepts in neatly wrapped bow.

edit: Alright, now that I have found a computer I can give you a few things to look at. This is just a place to get you started. IMO this should be an individual journey unique from my own or anyone else. So really, just explore what you find to be interesting and relevant. For me it has been less of a religious choice and more of a life style choice. It is something that compliments who I am and how I want to live my life. Anyway ... I hope this helps!

Hesse's novel

A brief history

Summary of the different "modern" versions of Buddhism

Hatha, and Vinyasa Yoga

Chakra Meditation Guide

They have schools all over the world, but it think Grand Master Sin Kwang Thé set up shop in LA.

I'm sorry if the videos aren't any good. I'm in the library without any head phones. Either way, this should be enough Google fodder to get you going.

I would definitely recommend it, I would also recommend Siddhartha, Buddhism isn't as much a religion as it is a lifestyle. Siddhartha is the story of the life of buddha, only about 150 pages. Written by Hermann Hess

I can't believe in 11 hours no one has said On the Road, by Jack Kerouac

Also:

The Fountainhead, by Ayn Rand - I see Rand is mocked in other comments, but I think every intellectually curious person should go through a Rand phase

Siddhartha, by Herman Hesse - the other side of the coin

enjoy!
