It might be more outspoken on the internet as a whole, but it isn't what I was referring to. It's not even what I read about. The professional reviews and reviews by serious enthusiasts I did read seem to agree that it's hit and miss with the Sigma lens. Either you get a good unit and you have a great lens, or you get a dud.
