I'd recommend a Stanley brand thermos, I have a 1.1Qt but here is a smaller version for soups from amazon. With mine I can usually keep my beverages hot for ~12hrs with opening and pouring out liquids. If you boil some water and "pre-heat" the thermos then put what ever you want in it should keep for a pretty long time at a decently hot temperature. And since you wont be opening it as often as I have to get out coffee and what not you should do just fine.
