i'm gonna follow up...

if wumen doesn't excite you and make you wanna read more of what his lineage had to say, that's fine! he is not at fault, and nor are you. look elsewhere! based on the sort of things you post, i think you'd enjoy this book by british physicist peter carroll, in which he explains his system for understanding the occult (or 'mystery' as you call it)

Peter Levenda's prologue is short and excellent. This is a complex area of study, and the little that I have seen does not hold up. The philosopher Leibniz had a magnificent idea, the doctrine of marks and traces wherein the entire universe may be found in a single grain of sand if closely examined with godly powers of insight. See here.

It is sound in theory but almost impossible to apply in practice. You run the risk of overshooting apophenia (which is a magical power) and falling into pareidolia (which is a swamp of quicksand). Peter J. Carroll has a beautiful analysis of this distinction (Apophenion: a Chaos Magic Paradigm.)

The first three star review on Bain's book at Amazon is a superb analysis of why this is so confounding.

Also: see Mark Passio's analysis of the 9/11 terror attack as a black magic ritual starting at 1:37:38 of this video. It is splendid, albeit splendidly erroneous.

this is who I meant. at least I'm fairly sure it was that book.
