If nothing else, it is 100% worth it to get one like this to ditch those fucking awful plastic pin attaching coolers that typically comes with that socket/era of boards.
I replaced one of those pieces of garbage with something similar to this from Amazon this one I believe. Worth every fucking penny.
Yes, but a basic one https://youtu.be/cqMIlYrEpLQ?t=160.
You can buy such a cooler for 10 dollars https://www.amazon.com/Thermaltake-Gravity-Intel-Cooler-CLP0556-D/dp/B00O4UIZ86/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=Thermaltake-Gravity-Intel-Cooler-CLP0556-D&qid=1554479239&s=gateway&sr=8-1
So, using this new updated NAS Killer v1.0, I've had a few problems that don't seem to be addressed anywhere. I've triple checked every part that I got in hopes to weed out getting the wrong parts that would effect the issues I'm having:
Issues:
Without getting a new PSU or an adapter, the CPU gets no power with the PSU provided by the Rosewill ATX case. Also, without modding the case, half of the storage potential is lost. I HOPE I'm missing something big here or I was sent the wrong parts (tho going over each one, they seem correct), this seems to have a few small problems.
Assuming you don't have the stock cooler (which should work fine), the Arctic Alpine works well, and has a super low profile variant. As well as the Thermaltake i2. Both being similar designs to Intel stock and having good, quiet fans.
