For me I grew up in an area that was very hot during the summer and hard frequent black/brown outs due to heavy AC use. My bug out location is in that area. We are pretty battle hardened to dealing with 105F here just by living here. I have no problems getting water because it's a Delta. Bugging out to the BOL it something I can do no problem in a day on bike (yes I have done this ride many times during the summer).

I can easily out last a 3 month heatwave in my area with my current preps along with 3 other people.

One day to prepare if only I knew: I would spend all day eating delicious food and picking up extra supplies mostly fuel and food. I would get some cash too. I'll be pulling into my BOL with my car as the lights go out. No one else will be panicking and scrambling for supplies for another 12 to 24 hours. Early on in the blackout, I'll be out on my bicycle and trailer buying whatever extra supplies until the panic hits a critical mass.

If we all knew: I would load up my car with my stuff and head to my BOL, ASAP. If everyone knew it would be instant panic. While everyone is buying things up I'll try to get to my BOL first before riding over on my bike to grab supplies. As I get closer to my BOL I might try to buy supplies but my main objective is to get out of the Bay Area.

I would start by eating the perishables first. Before diving into my preps. I can cook for a while on propane and solar oven before having to use my wood gas stove. I also have a thermos slow cooker that will help me preserve fuel while slow cooking. Yes I actually use this often.

What would I like to add?

A large solar dehydrator

The fresnel lense

A canoe would help me catch more food from the Delta but I don't need it for this situation. However I would still fish, etc to make it look like I don't have food. OPSEC. A really burly wagon for moving lots of water would be helpful.
