Ethernet over Powerline, or make/buy a long (max 300ft) Ethernet cable, or buy a wifi PCIe card for your PC.
The wireless card in the wiiu is laughably bad, if you use a wired connection you'll see an immediate difference. If the modem/router being in different room is an issue pick up a cheap powerline adapter.
getting this powerline adapter
and this ethernet adapter
will cost you under $40 but give you a vastly superior online experience. I use the same ethernet adapter and it made online so much better. The way powerline works is you plug one into the wall near your router and one near your console, the connection is sent through the powerlines in your wall, it's very cool stuff.
Yes! Love the nix....but god help you if you have a wifi card it doesn't want!
This is what I got: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AOGZ80C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
If you do it though chromecast, make sure you get the Ethernet adapter. You won't get very good performance over wifi. If you can't run Ethernet that far, look into one of those Ethernet over power line starter kits. I think you can get a basic one for about $30 on amazon and it'll give you the throughput you'd need for 4k
Edit:: basically one of these or better: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AOGZ80C/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1483135448&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=trendnet+power+ethernet&dpPl=1&dpID=31sqKPJoGDL&ref=plSrch

Claims of 200 Mbps on this one. I couldn't find the one I used, but either way, it's going to depend on your homes wiring. They are definitely capable of more than 14 Mbps though.
